A small point he left out of the discussion. Still if he was proactive and told the company in advance he would not accept an extension he should be paid. If he waited until he expired to spring that on them I agree with the CP.

NQ does not mean no pay. some RDs are refusing to pay pilots if they refuse the extension, i havent heard the latest o that but i know ALPA was trying to fight that.

If they notified the company in advance they would not accept a extension they should be paid. A extension should not be forced. If they failed to give the company reasonable notice they would refuse a extension than they should not be paid.

I'd like to know what base this was. I'm on the 330 and haven't flown since the beginning of March. Have done recency once after getting a 30 day extension. Coming up on currency expiring the first week in August and was/am leaning toward telling the company that not only do I need a recency but I'd like to start the engines and do other pilot stuff that I haven't done in forever. I know that this doesn't fit into their plans but it's getting to the point that it's the right thing to do.

Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Company should assume I’m not taking an extension. Sounds like the old fatigue extension policy re-written.

I’m betting it’s the other way around. The company first needs to notify you that they are applying the extension, ( from my first hand experience, they are not) then yes, pilot should notify CP if they are uncomfortable with said extension. This pilot is based in NYC and is not the first.

I didn’t “spring that on anyone” gave them dates fo sim, filled out the template. I told them that I was uncomfortable with an extension. He said ok you are now NQ until we get you into a sim, I asked about NQAT he said that is under review.

Glad you agree with the CP about fellow pilots not getting paid. Nice...

Guys,

Please use common sense. Do not advocate for anything that can come back to hurt you and the Pilot group. Happened before, can easily happen again. You do not want to be one of those “49 guys.”

Thank You and Happy Fourth to all

There is no way I would accept an extension at this point. Haven't flown in 3 months, and only 2 trips in 5 months. So you want me to go 4 months straight without seeing an airplane? There is no way that is safe.

The default should be that we are NOT accepting the extension, not an automatic application of the extension. If all the above is true, then this is pilot pushing and I'd file an ASAP.

PS: My extension was automatically applied without me being notified. Where is it written the "min time" we have to give the company to refuse the extension?
