I wonder if the reason is the FAA or something else

they are round dial-ish. The ADI is a screen and has the FMAs and airspeed tape. The HSI is a screen, Then of course an EICAS. Nothing like the 767-400.

The solution, of course, is to install round dials onto the 765 fleet for commonality

Think that ended due to too many ASAPs. It my still be same fleet, but they no longer co-base the -400/300 together. It was a significant pay difference for the 2 and most if not all -400s used to be in Dulles. They moved them out after the FAA made them separate the fleets. My UAL buds all took at least a 20k/yr pay cut overnight. This was easily 2-3 years ago.
So the statement above is false.
So the statement above is false.
The currency issue was a real one, but it never got spun off as a separate fleet and it could be flown concurrent with the 757-200/300/767-300.
Dulles never had the majority of the 767-400 flying, let alone all of it, that would be EWR. The plane would come and go based on network planning, and manpower planning sometimes would have EWR crews do W flying so they would do IAD departures on the 767-400 (EWR-MUC-IAD-MUC-EWR for example). iAD crews would do the same, but out of EWR, at times as well.
and right now no one is getting the 767-400 pay (same as 787/777 pay) at UAL as all of them are in long term storage.
UAL Dulles based pilot.

I could only imagine an FO AE coming out in the near term. When we finally train everybody from the prior AEs, and get everyone off of nq, we should be at the Manning they need for summer. I don’t think it will be pretty, and prob have green slips going out daily, but that is how most summers go.
