People seem to get hung up on the price of real estate, but buying California real estate made me more money than working at a major airline for my first several years. Treat it like an investment. There is a reason real estate is more expensive in California (because there is more demand for people wanting to live there).

Yeah, moved to SLC as a middle schooler and stayed through college, then left. Not a Mormon. And I would never, ever, ever,ever,ever subject my kids to that. Not just because of the Mormons, but also because of the non-Mormons. That dynamic permeates the culture and is absolutely bizarre.They live in a bubble and fight this crazy war that nobody outside the bubble understands or is even aware of. Beautiful to visit for a weekend. But that is bizarro world. No thanks.

They are talking about sims. So after indoc. Buddy of mine had 9 weeks between indoc and sims.
Remember, the new MOU specifies that at the completion of OE or no later than 30 days after completing 44X (sim check ride), new hire pilots convert from training pay to first year pay. But it says nothing about waiting 70 days to even start sims. I’d budget for at least 4-5 months of training pay.
