I think when the end of the month hits they will run out of people for SC and the premium trips will still go out. I don’t see them saving much money with it being the slow season and they have to pay everyone SCC

"Enhanced labor utilization" is the goal. These are Ed's words. Dan is focussed on hardware asset utilization, he's the #3. So, the #1 guy gives you an understanding of priority.

One 4-day GS that ends up being prevented by a SC = 42 (or more) SCCs. This PWA sets the price of a SCC far too low for the company to care.

Sort of like the way we created leverage a couple years ago with mass numbers of blanket slips, combined with ARCOS batch sizes… Oh wait

Now if we can just file a grievance, then gaslight the company into believing that their leverage will somehow implode if the grievance reaches an arbitrator before they settle upon forfeiture.

Before this contract there usually was no cost for SCC (in the rare case when you got full it would pay) yet they didn't use it so over the top. 2-3 a month normal, maybe used 1/4 of the time.

I would like to see SC capped at some historical % of departures in the window assigned and only relief is when the trigger for double 23k is met. But it pays 2 or 3 hours vs one when they are above the cap.

There have been some days in NYC where there are more pilots on Short Call than trips originating on the fleet.

Rough numbers. NYC 7ERA. November bid pack. 690 trips.
That's 23 rotations a day on average starting.

We've been running 30+ on SC most days.

We could cover every single trip in the bid pack with SCs.

28 on SC today.

I’m surprised the Me Too movement didn’t take Ed out. Can’t wait until we get some new blood in there that wants to invest past a 2 year outlook..

instead of fixing E-coli and mold, we get shake shack burgers on flights 💀

Me for example.. I've had 4 days on RES already this month (CQ Month) and only have 5 SC they can use. I've had SC 3 times, one was the 2359-0859 one so I've been on SC every single day.

I have 9 days left on RES, 2 SC left to use, and they will likely burn those SCs before the thanksgiving push.

I can sit SC in bed (live in North Jersey) but still, they are getting annoying. On the upside, the 5 SCCs this month will pay for the ginormous Christmas tree my wife wanted. And my dumb ass will be home to assemble the staging needed to decorate this 16 foot behemoth that is in the "conversation pit" part of the living room. Yes. It's a MCM house even though it was built in the 80s.

According to Ed we are about 3 years out from AI doing rotation construction and crew scheduling.

All due respect, why get creative to solve this? If the company was following the contract by awarding YS SC, their incentive to use SC goes down. It's already on paper, just need to get it grieved.

Oh, I'll be part of said grievance. But there needs to be some sort of leash put on them past 6 per month.

I'm waiting for either Thanksgiving or Christmas to be a meltdown because they burned 90% of the SCs already, and with the rest of us on 18 hour leash for the rest of the month, it becomes a GSpalooza. Costing them bigly in SCC early in the month plus a ton of premium.
