Reserve for Dummies

Very well could be. I think the measurable cost will go up if we get a finding that forces the company to follow the PWA they signed, and folks can get their 7th-10th SC in accordance with their bid.
But no matter how the grievance shakes out, there’s a lot of cost to the way management is “managing”. It just doesn’t shake out in the data, so they’ll pretend it’s not a cost. Ed doesn’t have a column for all the fatigues that could have been fixed with a little caffeine, all the jet declines for MEL collections that really aren’t too bad, the goodbyes that don’t happen, the wheel chair waiters who hear the actual reason they’re treated like crap, the APU burn because frustration makes pilots grumpy and hot, etc.
Treat people like crap and you pay a price one way or another. Humans are going to human.

I hadn't bid reserve in a while and was unclear and inexperienced with P/DRs and a blue grid. I originally wanted to drop a couple of RES days, spread out over 9 RES days, but they were not awarded because I'm on a widebody fleet (23.I.9), bouncing around FL 3 or 4 legs a day (not complaining). I lobbed what I thought was a Hail Mary and dropped more than I probably should have.
Anyone know if there is anyway to partially/restore those RES days and pump those numbers back up? I'm guessing P/DRs are Hard (unable to) No Fly Days precluding YS/GS. I'll do my own research as well, but this seemed like an appropriate thread for me.

Question regarding a trip buy for recency of experience (reserve pilot on on-call days):
As per 11.3.a/b, it should be 5:00 pay, no credit, with a corresponding prorated reduction in reserve guarantee.
While this seems relatively clear, do any other pay treatments apply? Sit/EDP/reroute etc?

Mostly accurate if I’m interpreting the PWA correctly. The reduction is the prorated value of a reserve day, assuming you’re not on an X day in which case it’s a little different. If I requested to buy the trip in question it would be over on-call days. What isn’t addressed (or I just can’t locate) is whether or not sit/edp or reroute pay still apply.

Yep. Nothing in open time for days. I have 9 days if availability. Just assigned SC5 for tomorrow. I only have 5 for the month because of CQ.
Probably gonna YS SC6+ not get it and join the grievance while being on 18 hour call until the 30th.

I'm not a RES bidder any more (since I moved away from base), so I'm not directly affected by this. I wonder, though, if they'll award extra SCs over the Thanksgiving weekend. Will be interesting to see if the tune changes for a historically hard-to-cover period....
