You do you, but my point is that NC makes me ineligible for 2 hours worth of trips starting my SC. With all the BS the company is doing I choose to use my PWA right to be not contactable, making myself less available and usefull so they abide by the PWA and issue a GS or assign VAS rotations. I'm a one man army I guess. The point is the company is using SC to full affect and denying bidable SCs so I am choosing to be as "efficient" with MY application of the PWA. It's worked very well for me and I haven't had a single trip that reports prior to 2 hours into my SC since the change to 6 hour SCs. I have effectively reduced my SC time by 33% to 4 hours.

one day prior, you’re assigned short cal. You notify the company right then you are NC per the PWA.
On the day of your short call, you look at your schedule at short call start time. If there is a trip, it’s in 2 hours. If there is no trip, you call them and say you’re now contactable. So you’re never on a short leash per the provision.

I think the logic is this:
one day prior, you’re assigned short cal. You notify the company right then you are NC per the PWA.
On the day of your short call, you look at your schedule at short call start time. If there is a trip, it’s in 2 hours. If there is no trip, you call them and say you’re now contactable. So you’re never on a short leash per the provision.

SC assigned - call CS and inform NC first 2 hours
SC starts - check schedule/call CS and inform now contactable
trip assigned - 2ish hours meeting the undefined "promptly available"

If more people used the PWA provision we might see more VAS or less "report was 10 minutes ago (or 30 minutes etc.) when will you be there? ....hurry!"

This provision has nothing to do with that either since we have multiple, overlapping SC periods.
I’ve been called on SC with a report in 45 min. Flat out told them I can’t make it and would be there in approximately 2 hours. 15 min after the original report time, I got two calls from CS asking where I was and I even had the captain call me from the cockpit wondering where I was!
So yeah, we even have pilots pushing other pilots on report times.
You’re free to use PWA provisions to your advantage but they are not all the same depending on your situation.

That’s not the reason VAS is not currently being used.
