A grievance on SC isn’t “acknowledging the problem”?

It's like the STS I have been sitting as NEW for the last few months. I guess you could say that is acknowledging it, but some sort of communication on where they are in the process would be nice, or I guess an email or something on where ALPA stands on the matter would be nice. If an email about it has been sent, I have not seen anything, and if so, I retract my statement. In general, I would like ALPA to be more open with us.

A gazillion percent this. I just fear the company is taking SC ‘hostage’, creating a future quid for us to negotiate.

The problem with greivances is the RLA. Not a quick process. My reps have said the refusal of additional SC periods is being greived but since this is something that just started, it's probably really early in the process. I wouldn't be surprised if it's getting pushed to the front of the line for a mediation board though.

My words to my rep are not to give any quid for this. They only thing they should be striving for is to increase the value of SC, whether that's increase value of unused SC, or better yet, extra pay for any assigned SC. We have guys out there pushing for complete SC lines, which is crazy to me. Had that a different shop and the little bit of extra cash clearly didn't draw in pilots, so they just went junior anyway. People were all giddy about the 18 hour call out and suddenly act suprised when the company actaully uses short call.

100% and that's how I hope all pilots are with their SC reports. That's the only way they'll ever be compelled to use VAS.

I think it was on one of the FB group posts, but someone somewhere said that apparently the company can't use VAS right now because the trip coverage process isn't accurately awarding VAS pilots rotations so until they fix that they won't offer VAS.

So I guess we just add that to the list of things in the PWA that the company just ignores? It's a wonder that we still have some pilots on here who don't understand our attitude towards promptly available.

Sounds like an implementation timeline grievance...
