Reserve for Dummies

I was assigned a trip that puts my accumulated credit over the reserve guarantee. When can I be "full"? I'm paranoid, but I see a scenario where they assign another trip for the day following this trip up to alv +15 because I hadn't technically completed the first trip. Legal? Likely?

Should anything show up on your schedule, you are not obligated to tell them it’s illegal, but it’s the right thing to do, IMO.

Absolutely don’t worry about this. Once you go over the reserve guarantee, you have no further obligation to the company, regardless of whether is says “full” or not. BUT don’t end up 1 minute short, or you are fair game to ALV+ 15.

Definitely the "big boy" thing to do. I've had this exact thing happen where they tried to put a RES assignment on me after I was full. Quick call to the scheds and it was removed and FULL put on my schedule. Took two minutes with absolutely no fuss. You gotta remember they're working with a lot of noobs in scheduling so mistakes do happen. It's not personal. Just be a professional.
Well that certainly works if it's a "quick" call, but the last 5ish times I've called scheduling it was NOT a quick call. 47 hold, 35 min hold, then three other calls that ended with me hanging up at 10 minutes after noone picked up. I'm more than happy to let them know I'm full, but I'm not going to sit around all day waiting on them to answer. I expect them to be professional as well and answer in a timely manner. Otherwise, they'll figure it out when they finally call me.

You may deposit up to a maximum of 20 hours into the bank of your monthly accumulated credit in excess of 80 hours. Your maximum bank balance may not exceed +60 hours.

Here's a quick "gotcha" for all you newbie (or soon to be) WB reserve pilots. I know this, it happened to moi!
The WB will often have 6 day trips, say you notice one a few days ahead in open time that covers over the weekend so no one is stepping up for it.
On the RAL you notice 5 people, including yourself that all have 6 days available for that trip. You notice your the most senior of the 5 so it slips your mind to check it again for the next few days.
Day before the trip you get tagged, and in disbelief you go look at the RAL to notice that the other 4 had all moved their days off to now not be available for day 6 (a Tuesday) for the trip.
Just for giggles as you check in for your 6 day, you again peek at the RAL to notice that 3 of the 4 had already moved their days off back to leaving Tuesday as a reserve day now that the trip had been assigned.
Bottom line, yes a WB reserve can spend most of the month not flying, but sometimes a little attentiveness to what's happening can make a big difference.
