I don’t mind the 80+ hours of credit every month but they’re not supposed to rely on reserves this much.
I moved a record number of days in May, in a fleet, base, and seat that is normally quite hard, so I’m not sure what to say except keep trying.

I think the actual rules for swapping need to change to allow x day moves with less coverage. Even if you have for reserves initially there will be more line holders who will just drop their schedules and get down to cap reserve days for most of the month.

There are 3 different rules for X day moves....Non holiday, Holiday, and then Thanksgiving/ Christmas exception to Holiday rules.

Shouldn't be getting the Capped message if you actually meet the correct rule set.

If someone were to be debating a reserve line in July can someone explain the pros/cons of bidding a carry out trip in June.

Mostly a bad idea. The underlying days of the trip in July would revert to LC if you were to drop the trip. Any pay for the July bid period days plus all soft credit for the trip would go towards reserve guarantee, so no extra pay (EDP, holiday, etc go on top as always).

Generally you’d be better off just bidding those days as LC days. It should also be noted that if you are REG in one month and have LC on the first day of the next bid period then you cannot be given any assignment before 1800 on that first day, even if you are off last REG day. Verified by both the company and several discussions with the scheduling committee.

The carry out portion of your trip would essentially be working for reserve credit. The amount of reserve days owed is dependent on the credit of the spillover. Highly recommend John bell’s reserve pay calculator to analyze your situation. It won’t be completely accurate as you won’t know ALV or if you get an extra X day

Is scheduling no longer assigning short call to 1-day pilots? They previously weren't doing it if your last day was followed by a hard day off, but now it appears the Short Call Periods list for SC bidding no longer has any slots for pilots with one day of availability. The format of the Short Call Periods list has changed as well.

Oh, and scheduling is no longer rounding a PR up to a PB when a reserve pilot is rolling thunder. so that's great news..... /sarc

That was a huge brouhaha a year ago, which they backed down on, so I am 99% sure PR days are back to being banked when RT.
