Maybe but this is really like our 2nd contract since the last one. We skipped a whole contract. Also, the flight attendants have had big gains in recent years and we've had none. Didn't ALPA estimate the boarding pay alone to be 16%, not including the two 4% raises? In addition, there is no better time in history to let our specialized skills work for us. With the major pilot shortage it makes us very desirable employees. If they give us boarding pay I'll lower my expectations on a day 1 pay raise.

Doesn't seem like those numbers are too far out of the ballpark. Simple math puts us pretty close to 20% just to keep up with inflation, so if we want a real increase in purchasing power then we better be getting fairly large raises. We pay millions in dues, so if we don't beat 16% what is the point? I really don't think those numbers are that far off.

Okay, so by the time we get an actual contract what will it be? Do you want a raise in real value? And have pilot services increased in price? How much of a bonus did Delta just blow on their regional pilots? And money to foreign entities to give their pilots raises? So how much are you proposing we get?

Maybe United pilots are less worried about their payrates today, because they know its only the starting point. When you got Delta gunning for raises, and you known your #metoo clause will trump our rate..why would you care too much what the starting % of a raise is? They got better vacation, training, deadhead, meals, hotels, filling of vacancies...now they tie up retirement, healthcare, positive space, reserve rules, disability etc and let DALPA do the heavy lifting for their rates. They'll still end up +5% better payrates than us with the rest of their contract filled out.

Going off the rumors. The me too clause is 5% above the average between AA & DL. So it’s unlikely to be anything significant above DL. We all know AA will be the lagwagon.

Not saying it does, but if the UAL sets a very low bar for compensation, expecting DL or AAL to do the heavy lifting, don't you think you'll end up with less in the end? And later than you would have if you'd raised the bar?
