As long as the "dump excess DC" is an optional thing, then sure, let's explore it.
Equal outcome, hard pass. Equal DC contribution, win. There is no way to predict the future. You cannot guarantee a junior pilot hired in the last few years will have millions. You were lied to, don’t you think we can be lied to as well? I think we are all learning from the mistakes of the past (pensions). I’d take a % to the retirement fund over a promise in 30 years any day, we see how it worked out for you guys. But to ask for a min balance on the backs of the rest of us, no way. If there is a min balance it should be for every pilot on property effective immediately.
The interesting thing about the "equal outcome" crowd, is that their holy grail of the FAE pension wasn't an equal out come either.

You know what the dead zone pilots were given a few years ago? A winning lottery ticket, which was the early retirement plan.
I wasn’t offered THAT retirement plan, which is OK. However, if they chose not to take it, that is on them.
I was neutral to the minimum balance plan previous to COVID. At this point, I’m a hard no if the NC gets a substantial balance into the coming TA.
I liked everything else Ryan A had to say.

The biggest winners were the guys with the stones to bail out, then come back as an RJ pilot. They are getting VEOP pay + regional pay above Delta rates.
I'm with you as a hard NO on the Min Balance plan. It is a cash grab, plain and simple.

Are you talking about VEOP? We were all offered that plan.

yes, but…
Do we maintain individual ownership and control?
Is this a group plan, not optional, where our younger pilots have no choice?
If so, the difference for an about to retire pilot who just gets $$ to add to their personal nut pile is a lot different than a new hire who has to give the fruits of their labor to a community food bank.

I don't feel that the VEOP came out of my pocket - I feel that the company was panicking and wanted to get rid of pilots at almost any cost - and this was their way. I don't feel like the union spent any negotiation capital to get the VEOP, so the rest of the pilots didn't lose out. And many of us were eligible - not the whole list, but a significant percentage of those who might of wanted to go. I don't remember any 35 year old complaining they didn't get offered the VEOP at the time.
