I think (hope) the FAA will get involved real fast upon seeing this dangerous trend of the company encouraging pilots to fly less than well.
The highlight of the conversation that will take place between the FAA’s Delta CMO and Handel will be “Hey, what’s our Saturday tee time at [choice of PTC country club] again?”

Many of the people who work in that office are retired old guard Delta goons, who are buddies with the old guard goons who still run Flight Ops. The FAA will be our absolute last advocate.

The letters will still backfire on management in many other ways, however.

I'm not impressed with the tone but I also think it's a battle between legitimizing the giant strawman the company built, getting pilots fired up allowing them to take hostages and saying nothing other than we saw it, ignore it

Maybe…but then they wouldn’t be doing their job. And if a mishap did occur and this nonsense came to light, heads at the FAA and DOT would roll.

edit: If we’re really looking for recourse, I suppose one of the letter recipients could go to the media…

They could have called it what it truly is.

You really think the FAA is a just culture with consequences? It's a corrupt government organization headed by the good reverend Bedford, the former CEO of Republic. Ask some Republic pilots about him.

And the DOT is headed by.... Duffy, so I wouldn't hold your breath. We'd have better luck with Pete Buttigieg.

This isn't a management/labor issue. This is 100% about safety. Could you imagine if the public knew that pilots at Delta Air Lines were being coerced into flying sick under threat of disciplinary action?!

Auto-correct may put the wrong word in, but it doesn't put a non-word in, unless you had previously saved that non-word to your dictionary yourself.
There are a lot more pressing things at hand than a spelling mistake. Moving on.

This. It's just documenting the act with a third party. This isn't even receipt required mail so I probably got one and never read it because it was stuck between the grocery store flyers and got tossed in the trash. It has no effect and is a nothing burger except so sew mistrust leading into section 6. Carry on, there's no value or weight to the letters any line pilot needs to consider.

The letters absolutely have value - they are exposing the true nature and mindset of management. Lots of pilots were clearly taught this during the pandemic. These letters are helping to teach the same lesson to the post-pandemic hires.
