I think at this point it is inevitable that there will be an impact on the air line. At a minimum we will see near- to mid-term fuel costs rise which will eat into profits. Hopefully that is all it turns out to be and we churn on strongly through the second half of the year. The longer the strait is closed the higher the chances of some major impacts to our operation and/or profitability.

I think this is a perfectly valid take, by the way.

Yeah, hopefully just a hit to profitability and a return to normal once (if) oil production and distribution returns to normal. I have a feeling it's going to take longer than most people think though. Hopefully I'm wrong.

How does that matter? Unless Congress changes the law (again).

You are not going to see a sub operating in barely 200 feet of water next to Kharg island.

We will also ignore a sub can't transit a straight submerged.

Again, I urge posters to please keep the discussion on topic, and relative to impacts on the industry. Resist the temptation to slip some flame bait and bickering into the thread, or it will be closed. Which is probably inevitable...

Doesn’t need to be NEXT TO Kharg Island to keep shipping away from Kharg Island. And fast attack boats have operated in 200 ft of water plenty of times before. The Iranian navy has long operated their submarines there although currently those ops are much reduced. https://www.19fortyfive.com/2026/03/...-the-u-s-navy/

And it’s “Strait”, not “straight” as in constrained or limiting as in straitjacket.

My bad, you got me on a spelling error.

Let me rephrase, we will not send a sub into the gulf through the STRAIT for an operational reason. On the surface for a port call, sure. The water is too shallow and too operationally constrained.

maybe swap the words murder and kill. Unless he thinks we intentionally hit school kids (bordering) near a military base and their ‘police’ just happened to throw some bullets toward their own people. Intent might matter.

my bigger question is why does the Iranian govt get to squeeze oil transport for the rest of us? Must everyone let this be so?
