That's another big myth about this TA that is being sold to us. Mark my words, this thing passes and you'll see a big displacement bid at the end of the summer. Here's why....:
The early retirement scheme sounds great right? All that movement off the top will really pull us up the list... not so fast!
If you read the language, the program terminates as soon as ANY ONE CATEGORY reaches critical staffing levels. Guess what? That language is there for a reason. Right now, the 747 is overstaffed. They will allow maybe 100 high paid guys off of that thing and then the whole program stops for good.

So IF you were right, number 100 on the whale is number 695 on the seniority list. That means they have to offer the package to at least 595 other guys, and that's assuming that every single whale guy from 1-100 in the category took the buyout. The junior whale guy is number 2061. It has to be offered to each pilot in seniority order, and management has to prove they can't train replacements for the critical category by June 30, 2013.
I'd say that these three sentences in the M.O.U. give the company plenty of leeway to do as I stated...
"Participation in the program is subject to approval by the Company".
and,
"...it is possible that not all Program eligible pilots who apply for the program will be approved for participation in the Program."
and,
"maximum number possible based upon maintaining operational reliability"

50 seater shows up, 100 seater disappears, 50 seater goes away, 100 seater returns.
So, imo the 50 seater was a 100 seat killer.
So what does that make the CRJ-900 and E-175?

Those numbers are absolutely ridiculous. They are not in any way close to the actual CASM numbers. Individual aircraft CASM numbers are very closely held numbers in a company. A company like Skywest pays for some of the costs of its aircraft and some other costs are pass through costs that go to Delta or United. Please list your source and if it is some internet web site then I will give a preemptive YGTBSM.
Seriously, if you ask any airline analyst and suggest that a CRJ-900 has a lower CASM than a 737-800 then they will laugh in your face. List your source.

Just as the LEC reps have stated in writing that the MEC is too invested in this product to talk about it objectively.
Your baby is ugly.

Sounds like there is quite the poo fest over at the DALPA forum. For those of you who don't frequent it it seems there are at least two individuals who are being paid flight pay loss and trip drop to man the phones and post on the DALPA forum to sell the TA. One is a former MEC Committee Chairman who recently left DALPA to return to the line. JPIV is also receiving FPL. They are the two most vocal on the forum.
Makes one wonder if Alfaromeo and Slowplay are included in the largess. No surprise if Slowplay is, it's his job. But, what about Alfafromeo? FPL or trip drop?
Once again, some animals are more equal than others.

I'm sure that it has been hashed out here before, but the DPN Network is staffed by the negotiators. As in the guys at the table. If you want some interesting details please please call. They are very forthcoming with info and what went on at the table. I was very surprised that a member of the neg. team answered the phone. Call. You will be enlightened. Now, back to lurking.
