How would any of us know? You have yet to tell it.
The LEC reps didn't misread or mishear. You're lying. The TA is cost neutral to the company. We all have waited a decade for DALPA to show us what they can do with a Section 6. DALPA fell into incredible luck to enter Section 6 with a massively profitable company. What did DALPA bring us? A cost neutral TA.

Hockey,
As a current Navy Reserve Military Officer, this really ****es me off! At least I think it should. I am not really sure how to feel and waiting for guidance from HQ on how to feel.
Enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend.

You WON'T see that man. Alfaromeo has already stated that WE (the pilots) better have a plan B if we vote this down. Apparently, our MEC doesn't have one. That's why it's looking like the MEC and management has always considered our MEMRAT just a rubber stamp. Witness RA and others talking about our TA as if it is already a done deal.

Is memrat a rubber stamp? Maybe. Remember that the polling guys (Comstock? Wilson?) were very involved in this process. I would bet that the MEC has polling data that indicates that this will pass, or we would not have seen a TA.

What is our leverage?
I told everyone it would be a cost neutral contract from the Company's perspective. Nothing else could be justified at this early position. Money would be brought from facilitating the business plan and given to us. That's the only play we've got without a wildcat strike (unrealistic) or a real strike (who knows when, or if).
... and those economic forces remain the same regardless of who our bargaining agent is.
It would be a lot easier to be a coward and go with the flow on this board, but it would not be honest. I've always tried to be objective so ... I think our MEC and NC did a fantastic job executing the play to gain field position ... balancing and allocating what they traded and got.
The result is a mediocre ending to a Hollywood drama, but a damn good effort for the real world in Atlanta.
I am still stress testing and running scenarios through the language (like the Republic situation) and will remain inquisitive, but it would be unfair to characterize this pay neutral to the pilots. We clearly gain from money liberated from other parts of the business.
My modelling strongly suggested the play would be a outsourced jet in the 80 to 100 seat range. Sure enough that is what management proposed. I feared ALPA would do that trade. I'm relieved and impressed they held our ground.
---- ALERT -- WILD SPECULATION FOLLOWS -----
The Next Gen 900 has mainline economics. If we are going to make a move to capture 2015 might be the time we talk management into extracting us from parasitic stakeholders who are not "Delta." We should have the balance sheet to do that. Just saying that would be my next move in this Chess Game.

Don't get distracted by hockey, dragon. I KNOW he did mean it.
It's Memorial Day weekend. Let me take this time to thank all active duty military men, women, and veterans for their service.
That was a great scene from A few Good Men, too. One of the best ever, in my book.

That's the sad part, I know he means it too. I too want to take this time to REMEMBER those that died that we may be free.
Memorial Day is for remembering, honoring those that serve and have served is great but for me it's all about remembering the ultimate sacrifice. Have some cold ones fellows, enjoy those you love (or might want to) and forget about the TA. It'll still be there on Tuesday!
That's another big myth about this TA that is being sold to us. Mark my words, this thing passes and you'll see a big displacement bid at the end of the summer. Here's why:
The company loooves to staff with displacements... we've seen that already. The 717's will be filled with displaced captains off the DC-9 and MD-88's due to aircraft retirements and the increased productivity that the TA provides. The 757's and some 767's will start to be replaced with the new, lower paying 737-900ER, also filled with displaced 767 crews... why do you think they haven't bothered to convert the rest of the 767 domestic category to ER? Because it's a waste of time and money!
The early retirement scheme sounds great right? All that movement off the top will really pull us up the list... not so fast!
If you read the language, the program terminates as soon as ANY ONE CATEGORY reaches critical staffing levels. Guess what? That language is there for a reason. Right now, the 747 is overstaffed. They will allow maybe 100 high paid guys off of that thing and then the whole program stops for good. No replacements needed. Not for another few years actually as Alaska grows and the new fleet of 76 seat replacement jets come online. So don't start practicing those Captain PA's just yet...
