Each merger is different. DOH may work for some, relative for others. Then you have various methods like pull and plug for retirements or one top heavy group versus another, zippering the list in whole or starting at a specific point, a staple or any combination.
You could pull and plug a given amount, zipper a given amount, blend an amount with relative and then staple a certain amount, all in the same merger. Then there's fences and freezes as well. Everyone will tout their "gold standard" which will be whatever serves them the best. That is why they almost always go to arbitration. DL and NW were much, much closer across the board than DL and HI would be on many seniority related issues. I would expect DALPA to resist a full on relative integration with all available resources, just as I would expect HALPA to "go for it" because hey, why not? |
So is HNL > NRT?

The HI pilots will win... big time.

Or...
According to the Financial Times, Brussels is lobbying Washington to relax stringent foreign ownership rules for airlines. Europe believes more international M&A would help the combined EU and U.S. carriers to better compete with fast-growing rivals in the Gulf and China. |

It's not a zero-sum game. Just because the HI pilots would get a big win doesn't mean we'd get an equally big loss. How hard is it on us to absorb 600 pilot scattered around our list when they bring 25 wide-bodies and a very complimentary route structure? As long as there are no fences, I don't see it as being that big of a deal.
