Smith and Nestor definitely have my votes! I'm torn over my other 2 votes. One of them will absolutely not be for Cook, I know that for certain, haha.

Does anyone have any other opinions on the candidates running for C44 office. I do not know them personally and find the letters typical and boilerplate (except for DN who is now getting my vote) I lurk this board and post infrequently but I would like to hear some of your opinions. Thank you

Thanks much for the answer, it makes sense and was what I was hoping for. I'm trying to figure out what to bid for Nov CQ and still have a good chance for Thanksgiving off etc...
By the way, I've always enjoyed your posts, which I'll throw out there since we're the only two up right now. Hope you're enjoying yourself up there. I know a guy who is thinking about bidding into your cat, and he'd be the plug... how much flying are you getting, how much use on reserve?
Thanks again!

Your welcome.:) Sorry, but I had to call it a night shortly after I posted!! I'm still on 76ER right now and flying a regular line. I won't be going to training on the 330 until sometime in Decemeber. I will say everytime I look at the reserve list and trip assignments on reserve, it seems like I see the most junior guys getting the most trip assignments......If he would be the plug, I would highly suggest he does not commute...

Gentlemen,

Trying to decide whether to connect to FCO through AMS or CDG? Never been to either airport...ATL FCO looks tight for non revving. I am leaning towards AMS just because it is open up front...CDG, not so much? Planning on KLM out of AMS or AF out of CDG in order to get to FCO.

Anybody done this before? How long to allow in between connections? 2 hour?

Thanks guys!

My wife and I have nonrevved through both airports, and actually nonrev through AMS on a fairly regular basis as there are three direct flights from MSP and connecting in AMS is far less stressful than hassling with JFK or ATL! I would say Amsterdam is your better bet, it's more compact & better laid out than CDG, transfers are quite easy with the transfer desks, and I've found the KLM agents to be friendlier & more knowledgeable than AF agents. There's also a DL nonrev center in AMS in case you get stuck and need more paper ZED tickets, I don't believe there is anything of the sort in CDG.

One hour should be sufficient for connecting in AMS. I've done it in a half hour but that's really pushing it, as you have to go through customs unless you're transferring to a non-Schengen country, plus security a second time. The good news is that KLM doesn't really overbook, and you're often the only standby.

On KLM, ZEDs are really easy now that they're electronic, you buy them online with myidtravel.com, and then you simply check in at the kiosks at the transfer desks. It's quite slick, no extra step of listing. If you don't use the flight, you can refund it online (minus a $1.50 ticket fee, I think). Keep in mind that Alitalia may also be an option AMS-FCO, and they are use the cheaper ZED-L fares. In either case, though, taxes out of AMS will be the majority of the cost of the ZED ticket.

Let me know if you need anything else...enjoy Italy!

Having also Nonrev'd through both AMS and CDG I agree with Jungle. AMS is the better choice. I always go with the most business class seats anyway as you arrive much more rested. I did have to purchase a ZED in CDG one time and it took me almost 2 hours of waiting in lines and dealing with multiple AF agents to get it done. So if you decide to do CDG make sure that you purchase your ZED here as it is much more difficult to deal with the nonrev situation there.

One last thing, most of the connections in CDG used to make you exit security as many flights are on different terminals or wings of the airport and can take more time than just clearing customs. Some other things to consider.

Hey one of you 765 guys know what is up with the extra segment coming from FRA-ATL today.
I was watching it because I was kicking around going over but it is one of the optimized segments and I am trying to gauge if the nonrevs usually make it on. That pop up about possibly not boarding nonrevs even if there are seats causes some concern. Any of you guys that fly that route have any info on how often this is the case?

FRA-ATL cancelled yesterday for a mechanical. The airplane was fixed, and is operating as an extra section today.
