Here's a letter to the New York Times Magazine's ethicist, which was published over the summer:

My wife is having an affair with a government executive. His role is to manage a project whose progress is seen worldwide as a demonstration of American leadership. (This might seem hyperbolic, but it is not an exaggeration.) I have met with him on several occasions, and he has been gracious. (I doubt if he is aware of my knowledge.) I have watched the affair intensify over the last year, and I have also benefited from his generosity. He is engaged in work that I am passionate about and is absolutely the right person for the job. I strongly feel that exposing the affair will create a major distraction that would adversely impact the success of an important effort. My issue: Should I acknowledge this affair and finally force closure? Should I suffer in silence for the next year or two for a project I feel must succeed? Should I be “true to my heart” and walk away from the entire miserable situation and put the episode behind me? NAME WITHHELD

iCrew is the graphic display for DBMS - behind all that pretty stuff in iCrew is a text based system.

Go here to find what we're talking about:
Icrew>bids>AE>Display pilot vacancy info

Thanks, but does this just post information if you were the recipient of an award? Because all I see is the message "No Outstanding Awards for Specified Pilot Exist." I was hoping to see the entire bid award.

Did they give him any guidance?

If he (Petraeus) had used established precedence he could have just denied it and then after coming to the realization there was no hiding it, just stayed in office to become aggrandized by millions.

Apparently, if you see that message, no change for you.

The entire bid award document isn't out yet. I guess they put the results in DBMS then went home for the weekend - let the pilots stew until Monday or something.

.

Here's the New York Times answer:

This is between you and your spouse. You should tell her you want to separate, just as you would if she were sleeping with the mailman. The idea of “suffering in silence” for the good of the project is illogical. How would the quiet divorce of this man’s mistress hurt an international leadership initiative? He’d probably be relieved.
[...]
Do you admire this man so much that you haven’t asked your wife why she keeps having sex with him? I halfway suspect you’re writing this letter because you want specific people to read this column and deduce who is involved and what’s really going on behind closed doors (without actually addressing the conflict in person). That’s not ethical, either.

What I don't understand is why the country doesn't see this for what it is? He wasn't willing to LIE for the administration, and was subsequently asked for his resignation from Hussein Obama.

The timing of the investigation, and his resignation is a little too coincidental. (No black helicopters, just disappointed in the lack of integrity of this gubbamint.)

"With Petraeus’ resignation effective immediately, he will not testify next week & lawmakers are said to be 'stunned' by the announcement."

Doesn't make sense for it to go down that way.

Really? I'd really be surprised to find ANY integrity, whether Rep or Dem, or higher officials of all agencies, in ANY gubmint agency these days. Sam
