I guess he's a cuddler?

What's next, Virgin Atlantic pilots signing a deal with Richard Anderson? Just take the bridge agreement and swap out names and airplanes, then you begin to understand the problem when others "me too" on this. The Pinnacle agreement must be stopped. It can be properly re-written with the participation and concurrence of the Delta pilot representatives.

I have no problem with the intent. My problem is with the method and the ramifications of this precedent.
Bar;

It is clear that this is worthy of an email to the reps. The focus is truly who bargains for whom...Not whether or not a guy paid for training, etc.

There is zero benefit for the DAL pilots here, only downside.

4) Butttt....... It's not ok if they are a Delta pilot.
5) Half of these guys are getting put on the street due to a manufactured bankruptcy (by us)
6) Mainline pilots are taking nice big pay raises (we should) while guys at the bottom on poverty level wages are taking pay cuts, all while flying in the same system.

Getting off the high horse works pretty well for unity. Who are we to think we are so much better off than another pilot who flies the same passengers on the same tickets.

NWA,

I really do not understand your post. Most of the outsourcing occurred pre BK and in BK - we as Pilots have been fighting to take it back. DCI guys complain that we give up Scope and then complain even more loudly when we try to take it back. We have fought for pay raises when we gave up Scope and we have fought for pay raises when we took back Scope. Its a safe bet we will fight for pay raises in every TA - regardless of what is going on with Scope.

These guys are taking cuts because they underbid each other. If they want to stop taking cuts they have to start voting down contracts. Until the regional groups realize that they are only as strong as their weakest provider they will always face downward pressure on compensation. Mainline Pilots are not a factor in this.

Additionally - the "Flow" will not create more DAL jobs - it just puts some guys ahead of other guys, other guys I might add that are caught in the same crappy DCI system.

What does being a DAL Pilot have to do with it?? Many of these guys are great guys who are fully qualified to be DAL Pilots, just like many guys in the military, guys flying Corporate, and guys flying at other regional airlines. I think they all should all have to pass the standard DAL hiring process. A guaranteed interview is fine, but in my opinion that is where the preferential treatment ends. That is where they get hired or not, all on their individual merits, not some prearranged backroom deal.

A backroom deal, as Bar has mentioned, that left out our MEC.

I do appreciate your post taking the high road, but I really do not think the DAL guys are looking down at the DCI guys. I also applaud your optimism ala "nice big pay raises" but personally I think it is more like a partial restoration.

One way they can significantly limit flows is to run very large classes. With as many fleet types as we have, when hiring picks up that really wouldn't be much of an additional logistical challenge anyway other than maybe eating a couple weeks or even months of training pay for newbies.

Figure 20 CPZ and 9 Mesabas in a class, plus 12 or whatever the deal is for Pinnacle. That alone is 35% DCI for a class of around 120. But run a class of 200, 300, 400 and only take 20/9/12 and the number of flows per capita could be severely limited.

Again, not ideal for the company in some ways, but they can preemptly staff certain categories in such a way and ramp up certain training fleets to quickly absorb larger influxes than in the past. Especially with the new 1 year seat lock. That looks like it could be a huge part of this.

It would cost a bit more to do it that way, but really not that much more if they plan the peaks and valleys out better.

I just don't see classes of 40-50 per month where every single person is a flow from 3 regionals only and no one else ever for years. There is no way, absolutely no way, the company is going to stand for that. Guaranteed.

After dragging it out that way for years, eventually 400 CPZ + 109 Mesaba flows will be on property (less any amount that left pre-flow for other airlines) and we're back to 12 a month from Pinnacle in normal sized classes again.

The 35% is merely to guarantee interviews, and it cost absolutely nothing to put in the contract, and Delta has hired higher thn that percentage traditionally anyway... And also Because we belong to union and supporting your fellow dues paying members is good policy.
