Over 84 hours, over 200 RAW for the month of February on Reserve in the MD88B. OK, one day was a yellow slip since I couldn't commute home for one day off. I don't feel overstaffed in my category. :p
Elvis, Come on out to the land of Fruits and Nuts and join us in the LAX 73 FO Category. With 10 guys on the Reserves available list today, 5 have flown 0 hours, and as you know today is the last day of the bid period. I have a theory that the farther you are from DAL Mecca (ATL) the less you will fly as a reserve. Makes sense if you think about it, especially for 737s - almost everyone thinks of Alaska when you talk about DAL west coast flying. :D Scoop |

GS awards going out weekly in "overstaffed" categories......during the slow months. Me thinks the decision to not hire for this summer will be regretted. Will it be Summer 2010 again?

First time ever that my seniority number went the wrong way when a merger wasn't going on, obviously someone ahead of me came back from mil leave or someone got reinstated.
OTOH, it appears the hotel in Guam has changed, just got a notice that I will be staying in the Marriott instead of the Royal Orchid in March. |

Here's a few more:
"And at pickup, there was a different FO! He must of gotten sick fast..." "My FOs sure know a lot of people on overnights, they always have someone to eat with..." "Did you look at each volume in the Jepp kit to make sure it's the right one?" "Hey, grab the ODM and let me show you something in there..." "Look at these rampers, they're acting like it's cold. It's 55 degrees, that's balmy!" It's actually 40, 25 kts of wind and raining, your FO was freezing on his second walk around for the same flight but it's balmy. "And I told [alpa/company/CPO/RA/you name it] to [shove it], and they backed down." "Put our name in the hat." But ramp hasn't hooked up a tug and I think passengers are still boarding... |

The lanyard is interesting, because it sends the message, but deprives the guy of actually saying "Academy" in one of the first two sentences when he meets you.
Look for other buzzwords/key phrases during the initial contact: "I do everything by the book" (he won't), "...your flying background?" (won't be good enough), a military rank (yours must be lower, or he'll have to justify his), "...a lot of experience..." (ruining lives) "A lot of guys..." (are taller than him), Any combinations of words that takes more than about 2 minutes to deliver, Any speech ending in "...but let's have a lot of fun on this trip" (trying to convince himself; while you're already plotting your sick call), "I'm going to let you..." (fight the urge to strangle him, constantly), "I'd like to think that I..." (trying to convince you), "Because I'm a nice guy..." (fully yielding to delusion), "...called out sick on me, which is weird because I'm a great guy to fly with!" (delusional AND insecure). One point each, three points total to make a complete tool. I mean does playing the Navy guy in a Village People tribute band qualify as military experience? The going consensus is that NO it does not qualify seeing as I did not hold a formal rank. Tomato, tomatoe I guess. |

Doesn't make much sense if you have this going on as well...
Sounds like scheduling is skipping a lot on the ladder to cover trips and not using SCs like they do in ATL M88 B where everyone gets one. |

Not to worry, Delta is sending more flying to Expressjet to pick up the slack. Your contract is about to pay off for the RJ side...always thought this would be a good deal for the RJ.;). Looking better by the month. Thanks again for voting YES on your contract..:D
But you can't thank me. I voted NO. |
