One surprise of this A.E. was that guys in my seniority are almost back to where we were in 2008 as far as equipment choices and only slightly behind in relative seniority on those choices. They held more on the 7ER and 73N than expected (considering the lack of openings posted). The 5 year forecast for parity was nearly spot on, or two months early.

I wonder what those might be funded with. *;)

It makes sense, given the length of this bid, that 717FOs will be new hires. You've got Captain IOE to get done with a LCA in the right seat and the program getting pushed back a month or two anyway.

Bar,

I was pleased. I expected much more carnage in ATL. I was actually quite shocked with how many AEd the B717.

BTW, FTB didn't necessarily enjoy having the APU Air die mid start yesterday. Actually it was cycling on and off but you could barely tell since it was less than enthusiastic packs anyways and we hadn't been on them for very long. But it cycled off after the fuel was introduced with the N2 around 30%.

EGT said WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

So there we were early morning last week. Capt doing everything because little Dougie Masters was in the big orange book looking up 7...yes 7, MEL items that had "O" procedures. Grrr...Good riddance Maddog!!

717 CAs.......or maybe FAs? FAs only need 2 more weeks of training, right? I hear we have a flow with Compass. We could bring them up. Nah. Let's just balance the crews by displacing CAs.

You may be on to something with the FAs filling in right seat of the 717B

I think there is some confusion on pay protection for displacements. Normally there is never protection from that. In the Joint TA after the merger they were able to negotiate some limited protections from displacements as a result of the merger. I think it was for only 3 years. There is as far as I know no pay protection now regardless of what you can hold.

I feel like I'm going to get screwed. MDed from DC9b, wanted to got to 717b but could not hold it with my seniority so I will be going to the MD88b bottom 20. I'm sure on the next bid I will be MDed again down to the 717b and what do you know, now I can do the short course for the 717, no full course need how convenient, for them.

The junior man system-wide thing is ancient history.
You guys are thinking of the pay protection provisions that were in the first JCBA when we merged. Those expired 36 months after JCBAID. There is no longer any such blanket pay protection for MDs.

The only pay protection you get now for a mandatory displacement is if they convert you before someone junior to you who also received an MD from the same category. MDs are converted in inverse seniority order. (unless you volunteered to be converted before someone junior.)

Thought something was going to get very toasty back there, but it took it and remained in limitations even :)

Ugh.

Mine was the left engine and I killed it in time. But there was some confusion. After the abort everything was normal including the air. What we didn't realize it was 30 or 40 seconds of air on (just after fuel on) then 10 seconds off. After the qrh we did the second engine, same thing. Sat there then saw the pack go off..
Ahhhh.. we need to go back and get an air cart and MEL something.

The 717ER modification. Able to make ATL-CHA-ATL-TRI-ATL-MCN-ATL-SAV-ATL in one day without refueling.

Still 3 plane changes for the pilots though.

At least the bottom of the list. I tried looking at how many left and how many came in but got a headache and decided to quit. Just relieved to survive another AE. My dreams of living and working on the West Coast are still just dreams. HMM maybe someday.
