The 717ER modification. Able to make ATL-CHA-ATL-TRI-ATL-MCN-ATL-SAV-ATL in one day without refueling.

Your entitled to do as you wish but which carriers don't allow their pilots on FA seats? That is pretty crappy.

Almost all of the DCI carriers except Compass.

Nah, you're just saying you refuse to go out of your way to help all offline pilots based on your experience with one offline guy making a dick move. You're right, it's not a breech of rules or etiquette. I never demand that DAL guys take the FA jumpseat so I can get on, and I don't b!itch if they don't offer. Many have over the years, though, and I've been extremely grateful, and that's helped motivate my own efforts to get guys on my plane. It's the Golden Rule in action.

I'm not calling you out as an a-hole, you're perfectly within your rights. I'm just asking you to reconsider your stance - most of us would go out of our way to help you, occasional d-bag notwithstanding - why not return the favor?

I moved up about 25 percentage points from where I am now and I guess if the category is filled to the previously mentioned 145 number then I moved up about 35 points. Make it 15 and 25 points if you consider where I would be on the 88 after you account for the number removed from the list. Where I'd be on the 88 (and be for a while I'm sure) isn't a whole lot better than where I am now.

I'll take it. Not thrilled. Not perfect. Won't throw a party. But ATL has gotten so freaking senior I'll take anything to get some control. I haven't moved really much in 4 years on the 88 % wise, but what that bought you has quickly been eroding. So I'm off.

Speaking of 5 leg days... I'm seeing a lot of that on the 88 anyways. But man I flew a CVG trip not long ago and it was like I was based in DEN for 4 days. DEN-MSP-DEN-DTW-DEN-MSP... etc. Very lazy and fun trip.

717 (no plus)

Hockey,

Here is how I handle it, and hope the majority of Delta capts. do the same. I don't leave with open jumpseats that can be filled. I let the gate agent know that as long as a flt attd. doesn't show that the Delta pilot(if not around) will sit in the cabin jumpseat. If they have a problem they can come down and speak with me. So far 100% have had no problem. My guess is you would comply also. I also carry extra yellow crew tags for our own pilots(out of uniform) and FAs and if overhead space is gone I run the bags down and get them on the other end. The Dci's have always been good to me. The only pilots that won't get on my jumpseat are Scabs.

This is why I stopped sitting in the flight attendant jumpseat so a DCI pilot can sit in my reserved jumpseat. No hard feelings. I have showed up to an earlier Delta flight numerous times right at 15 minutes to have found out a DCI pilot has the jumpseat, then watched the flight leave full with me at the gate. A couple times, the pilot had not even boarded yet. I was told, "no hard feelings" just like you were. Now, I just laugh when they ask me to inconvenience myself so they can get on. I treat jumpseaters on my flights very well, but the days of inconveniencing myself are over.

I have had that happen. I sat in the flight attendant jumpseat. I also avoid confrontations and don't cause problems.

Maybe this has changed since being bought by Skywest, but both ASA and Expressjet pilots used to be able to sit in their own extra FA jumpseats. Jumpseat policy at most of the regionals has generally been more liberal than mainline...wasn't that long ago that NWA would only take number of jumpseats installed on the aircraft plus 1.
