Even with the generous peak leveling relief we gave them in the recent contract, I'm just not seeing how things will be covered in many categories, even with lots of green slips.!

Right now in many categories, reserve issues are on the weekends. Weekday coverage seems quite sufficient.

But I'm confident that the company will "constructively engage" ALPA, and weekend "reserves required" will be increased significantly. After all, "it's good for us," and "we'll get them next time."

Some of the B's are out via the backdoor.

Like it or hate it, the new reserve system has opened up options wayyy down the category lists.

ATLDC9B has 2 guys bidding rsv on page 1. On the other end of the list, #3 from the bottom of the category is a REG pilot - good for him if he's a commuter, or doesn't want to get punished on reserve.

While some argue that the bucket system slants too far in favor of guys "taking a month" off, an unexpected consequence (at least to me) is that guys further down the category are able to hold a line than they have in the past. It's just a different way of distributing the goodies among the group.

That said, junior reserve will SUCK in a short category over the summer, especially if you can't hold weekends off.

Anywhere in Old Town.:)

I will add, be careful. Had some buds there a couple years back who were surrounded by a handful of thugs leaving an establishment. They were "accused" of looking at the wrong girl or some BS like that. It costed them about $200 not to get rolled.

That's been true of any airline at any time in aviation history....and always will be.

That is exactly right! We have never had a generation of pilots be truly junior for a decade and a half. So nobody can relate much less acknowledge that is happening. That is why most captains are confused and accuse you of not knowing what you are talking about. I love their reaction when I point out that we only have 580 retirements for the next half decade.

Yep...I'm normally not even close to holding a line, but I ended up with a really nasty one next month. I'm thinking real hard about trying the "drop your whole line trick."

Be berry berry careful with that. You might end up with nada. I've been burned a few times. Try swapping with the pot first and some blanket white slips.
