Drone strike ?

My best guess:
  • US Air / AA was widely anticipated news. Investors made adjustments.
  • Stock was slightly overbought -people are taking fat profits. When you make nearly 40% in 90 days you want to take some money off the table.
  • Delta stock is above it's trend lines
  • Program trading exacerbates any decreases in asset prices.
  • Some smarter investors may have sensed trouble in the Delta / Alaska relationship. I'm not sure what it going on, but it appears Delta is reacting by performing more flying which has previously been ceded to Alaska Airlines.

Bottom line, as manned systems are removed, the traditional USAF roles will get more purple. More cockpits will be lost to drones and the USAF as we knew it will be dismantled and re-roled into the other branches. IMO. It really doesn't matter who the best pilots are.:D

I've thought this for a while. I know it's blasphemy for an AF retired dude, but I see us back in the Army someday. Plus, there was a thing on one of the news channels awhile back that showed some nice drones launching off a carrier.....which means the days of the big deck carrier may be coming to an end, who knows.

Shoot, even Capt Kirk and Spock were in the NAVY:eek::D

Slowplay,

Looking at it from the perspective of creditors; those who owned Next Gen CRJ assets clearly got a different result than those who owned first gen CRJ's. Some airplanes have a different market value and some airplanes were desired by Delta management. Not only did the next gen product not go away; Delta ordered more. They currently represent Delta's second greatest capital expenditure outside of the 737-900 acquisition.

Let's stay on topic, please.

You called this a manufactured crisis. The courts and a whole bunch of creditors don't seem to agree. Where's your evidence?

btw, PCL owned 16 CRJ-900. Those were among the first things rejected in their BK. And your assertion of the amount of capital expenditure might be true if you changed it to read "aircraft capital expenditure at list prices".

And the pull (my finger) quote:

Despite giving the all-clear for passengers to “just let it go,” researchers warned that pilots shouldn’t let one rip while in the cockpit.

“On the one hand, if the pilot restrains a fart, all the drawbacks previously mentioned, including impaired concentration, may affect his abilities to control the plane,” researchers said in the study, according to AFP. “On the other hand, if he lets go of the fart, his co-pilot may be affected by its odor, which again reduces safety onboard the flight.”

The study suggests that to deal with the smell of a passenger passing gas mid-flight, airlines should use charcoal to deal with the air up there.

Notice they only point the finger at the Captain. :D

Because FOs are like respectable ladies...we would never fart in the cockpit. We dont go #2 either...true story.

This is the best of both worlds...more West Coast flying and done organically. If these rumors are true, which I believe they are, I think it will only be short term. This seems to be a shot across the bow of AK to get them to step in line. Hopefully they don't and we can add even more West flying. That would be good for the LA folks and those of us bumped out of slc that want to be West. I also heard mgmt is thinking about placing a narrow body in SEA. Probably all pie in the sky but one can dream.

I agree with everything above, and would like to add the FED just made comment about pulling back QE, as well. If that happens, along with sequestration on March 1st, who wants to guess how many pilots Delta will furlough in 2013/2014? :(

He is on topic.

I find it very interesting that the only people defending the action are insiders. You can keep up the theater show but it's not fooling anyone.

Rumor on a wide body order and a SEA narrow body base.
