My Pre-New Year's New Year's resolution was to learn to play the 2 guitars I have... and I mean play... not just strum a few chords, this year. Thanks. now I feel like I am light years from achieving that goal. :o

Reminded me of a cover ... the Heartbreaker's just killed it.

When I was in Architecture school, we would literally move into the design studios the last 2 or 3 weeks of the semester to work on our projects. Every night at 2am.. this got blasted in the whole building...

They killed it too.... :)

Songs like that are fun to cover.

My tastes lead me into Dave Matthews and Mark Knoffler, both of whom conspire to leave me deeply frustrated. I thought Joe Walsh said it best, "when you start playing you just suck. Then you spend the rest of your life trying to suck less."

These are all before off-the-street. It should pretty much fill any classes for the first few years.

500/year = 40 per month (Don't forget Delta is shrinking).

Where do you guys see room for off-the-street hiring?

CPZ flows stop after about 125 or so for the year. Then it won't matter how many classes DL runs, or how big they are, there won't be any more CPZ flows until the following year. Then another 125 or so.

So the last 5-6 months of hiring would be zero CPZ flows. While there would continue to be former Mesaba flows at 9 a month (I think that would continue) that supply line would be exhausted in about a year.

If we do see sustained hiring along the numbers people are implying...60 a month for the first half of the year...that leaves half of each class zero CPZ/Mesaba flows for the first half of the year and the second only 9 Mesaba flows per month. DL could also run multipile classes per month, so if there was a class of 60 on the 1st and a class of 60 on the 2nd through the 31st, out of 120 only a total of 29 CPZ/Mesaba flows would go.

Now there is the variable of the Pinnacle flows but I forget the details of that, but the CPZ/Mesaba flows are the bulk of the flows anyway and they tap out quick and end one of them ends entirely after about a year of hiring.

IOW, plenty of room for "off the streeters" at DL, from the beginning of hiring onward.

Yes, under President Nixon we put a man on the Moon. Under President Obama we drew our manhood on Mars.

... anything to post this Austin Powers clip.

I want to go on record saying that I'm against using tax payer money to draw penises on the surface of Mars.

I have been asking this forum about this issue. DAL has no serious wb orders. Additionally, DL does not have a robust wb fleet capable of seriously competing on a global stage. As we sit today our global mobility (if you will) is supported by our robust JVs with foreign carriers. Please...please prove me wrong. If DAL came out tomorrow and announced a wb order, it would have to be huge to be considered a serious order. Any small order is essentially a replacement order for our aging fleet.

Maybe, although not every order has to be industry headlining "Heros of Farnsborough" end of year clearance super sale events. A smaller order may not mean replacement only, and a larger order may not mean growth.

If we got 10-15 near term as is rumored, they could all very well be growth. As you mentioned DL is anemic in that area. Likewise if we placed a jaw dropping middle east style order, all that could be replacement for our entire ER fleet on a negative pilot block hour basis, plus replacing the 777-200's on a negative basis, and maybe even replace the whales as well, and still look like a pretty big order on paper.

IOW I think a small growth order is very possible. Likely? My Spidey sense says no, no growth ever; not allowed! But if you take half a step back and look at things objectively, another dozen or two actually does make sense.

Exactly.

Just like the big 737-900 order...

Great...except they are going to replace the 757's, which pay more than the 737's!

True enough, although I would clarify that it won't be their actual oil that needs to run out for their bubble to pop. All that has to happen is the viability of their soverign wealth transfer pyramid scheme collapsing once the US gets its energy policy together, coupled with the inevitable reduction of regional military welfare by the "west" and hopefully the end of special subsidies on our end and their little house of cards will come tumbling down. It will be a beautiful sight to behold too.
