Not to go too far off topic, but what's a good weather app for an Android? I had the Weather Channel's app and it was great, until last night! They "Updated" it, and now it's useless! I used to have 10 cities I could scroll through in about 10 seconds, now they limit it to only 3, and of course they've added lots of ads, and fancy maps and other useless crap.
But if you want to see what the weather is doing in more than 3 spots for your upcoming trips, you'll be on that new p. o. s. for 10 minutes now! Why do they have to take something good, and "Fix IT"?? These tech nerds really pizz me off! 4.1 and 4.2 has Google Now, which has customized cards to pre fetch what you want to know (before you even know what you want). Mine gives me weather at home and the four corners, drive time to work and home, etc ... also I can just say a Delta flight number at it and it will provide up to date gate and status info. Which phone you got? If you have an S2 you can download an installer for 4.2 from Samsung. I went through the house jailbreaking everything to stock 4.2 last week and the upgrade really breathed new life into the tablets and phones. And for you poor lost souls who use those quaint, anachronistic, Apple products ... you can run Google Now too .... Google does not care what you run their search engine on, just as long as you run their search engine :-) |

Thanks. Sad day for aviation. I have a good friend there and I'm praying he's alright.

Timbo, If anyone should know better it is you - there is no "topic" for Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta? On one page we can go from Classic Rock (Nobody mentioned Stevie Ray Vaughn Yet?) to side-boob, to Hiring rumors, to financial advice, back to boob, but under-boob this time, to ......... well you get the point. :p Its all good! Pilot had no chance. That thing came down like a brick. Just stopped flying. Had to be the cargo broke loose in the climb. The CG looks so far aft they wouldn't have got 10 feet off the ground if they had actually loaded up and rotated in that shape. Only other explanation could be some sort of catastrophic control failure I suppose. RIP to those poor souls. |

The thing is, would the aggregate revenue from auctioning off first class seats be greater than the aggregate revenue from encouraging people and their employers to buy tickets on DAL all of the time and if necessary pay for refundable tickets to help build Skymiles?
I'd bet the current system and building loyalty with the HVC outweighs an auctioning system. |

Remember when the union said a 42% pay raise was unreal ... Or not realistic

I agree and I hope we don't see this either. I think we currently have a very sophisticated and established revenue management system. This system seems like a way for the airlines that are flying around a lot of empty inventory (Emirates, Virgin Atlantic) to make some extra cash on the already money losing flights. We are making money. I can't see why this would make us more.
While it appears we *may* have accepted the end of the capacity canibalization quarterly smash gravy train, I could see a 40% chance of us trying this in one form or another. There's always someone standing to benefit from a popup bonus for short term good ideas that end up being bad long term. But bonuses don't have to be given back, do they? |
