I think that we had leverage (something the company wanted) and we let it go.

Well stated. That's why I voted no.

I'm with you. But we'll never know now either way.

Question: If you say "Yes I want the 48 hours free from duty prior to training." If you are on reserve, do you get paid your guarantee for those days?

Little update on the litigious Rabbi. Before terminating his account, Northwest had given him

Don't know if the 78,500 comp'd miles counted towards his 75,000 mile status.

Interestingly enough, many conservative Rabbis state that members of their religion should not seek adjudication in public courts, even in matters of child molestation. They instruct disputes involving predatory acts on innocent children should be handled internally. In contrast, a spat over what amounts to a single first class domestic ticket should be adjudicated using no less than the resources of a State Court, Appeals Court and the US Supreme Court.

I dunno, just hits me as illogical (and mildly interesting).

Denny-
The 48 hours are counted as two of your X days. (golden X days in this case).
You don't get any extra pay. You don't get any "extra" X days.

I think you are getting 2 extra "golden" days though, so that's a tiny bit of a good deal.

ALV15+++

NEW PWA:

May: 31 day month
88A ALV: 83:00
Res. Guar: 80:00
Days off: 13
Extra X: NO

That math works out that this reserve M88 CA in ATL will end up with:
82:00 pay month (ALV-1:00)
15 days of work
16 days off

Old PWA:
May: 31 day month
88A ALV: 83:00
70:00 pay guar
Days off: 13
Extra X: NOT available ever

Scheduling still can fly him up to ALV of 83:00.

That Captain would have still flown that exact same schedule.

Except with the new PWA he did it for almost 13% more in hourly rate and a GUARANTEED 10 hours MORE (nearly $2,000) than under the old PWA. (Not including improvements in vacation and training application/pay for RES pilots with the new PWA).

Bar,

This lawsuit struck me as bizarre. While I have no idea how many times the Rabbi flew on NWA, the idea of making 24 separate complaints seeking compensation seems absurd. If I go to a business and get what I think is lousy service I'll complain, and depending on how they handle my complaint, I may go back. But if there is a pattern of poor service (which evidently the Rabbi believes, as evidenced by 24 different complaints) I'll go elsewhere.

Wasn't Einstein's definition of insanity "doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results"?

My impression is NWA tried to make amends, but the Rabbi kept finding fault with NWA's service. Why can't NWA say "Sir, we don't seem to be able to meet your expectations. Please take your business elsewhere."

True, but this lucky guy (to fly with me) was doing a low time 2 day to get tothe 82 hours, he was eligible for a 3 day and been at 87 hours or more.

Latest airplane talk from Richard

Boys & Gals,

This is the latest from Richard after a interview with Reuters. Most of this is nothing new but perhaps we are getting closer to that rumored aircraft order.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/delta-...181649678.html

Personally, I think Alaska will happen first;after their pilots vote in a new contract that will somehow allow larger outsourced aircraft. That would be managements perfect setup, blaming the acquired contract for the reason that a 100 seat aircraft would need scope relaxation. ( I can here alpa and the company saying that the 10 year capacity purchase agreement with X carry cannot just be cancelled without negotiation and financial considerations) I have a bad feeling on this one! Skywest and trans states order the MRJ but no legacy carriers scope allows for it? I hope I am WRONG!
