What is Hawaii?

How about Aruba? Or Bogota? Is Athens the same as Cairo? Where does Europe end and Middle East begin?

I'll go to Joburg, but I'm never going to Lagos! So an "Avoid Africa" won't work for me.

I don't mind putting in a few extra minutes by being more specific on something as important as my bids...

I guess if they did a simple, "Avoid all International" choice, that would work for the guys who just want to fly domestic 757, but that wipes out St. Marten, my favorite 24 hr. layover!

As soon as we get Longevity Based Pay, I'm bidding what ever lays over in SXM, for the rest of my life!

Not that hard... publish a list of what layovers belongs in what theatre. I'm actually suggesting that we keep the template we have now, but also add must layover/or avoid entire theatres... anything that saves me from typing more than I already have to. :)

While we're at it, add a choice that says "no dh longer than ___hrs ___mins... 2hrs 30min is my max (unless it's a gs or bus class!).

oops. I used 2011 numbers for 2012. Here is an updated table from the 10-K reports.

This is kind of irritating...twice in the past two months a sweet trip shows up for pickup on the swap board, but the comments say that it's only for a specific employee number. Why do that instead a swap with friends? Juniority sucks.

I think we should get rid of swap with friends... it completely abrogates seniority. We currently have a very senior pilot in LA that regularly gives his sweet asia trip to a very junior pilot (figure the senior guy has some business that makes Delta a part-time job)... this is wrong... what's the point of having a seniority based system?

We have a senior guy in my category that always puts his weekday caribbean turns on the swap board just after bids come out. They are gone within minutes. It is great for the occasional junior guy but I would be frustrated as a senior guy since it is one of the top trips.

But it's always been that way... Don't expect change soon.

I second your motion.

Perhaps a "waiting period" of one day from the time it's posted to the time it's rewarded? At which point it's awarded to the senior claimant.

It's a valuable option...just abused.

If Delta purchase 40 additional airframes via the two new RFP's we will put into service over 240 airframes in the next 4 years. We also hold options for 30 more 737's. the fleet plan has us parking 85 757's in that period. There will be some A320's parked in Addition to the 757's however the net gain in airframes should be around 130 hulls. That number includes the 90's not yet in service.

Fair enough. My problem here though, is well documented. All of the "replacement" aircraft you mention, and none of the "growth" aircraft you mentioned are upguaged airframes from the 757. I know, that is a different discussion for a different thread. But.... at my seniority, I do not see much upside potential with what you are describing. I see even more stagnation for the top 50% of the list.

Over half of that number is already confirmed.

When they have a widget painted on the tail, let's talk. Until then, it is... well... talk. (717s excepted... but oh yeah.. THEY ARE THE SMALLEST THING IN THE INVENTORY)
