These same guys have been hammered because of the RJ and somehow thought we could get more, larger RJs and it was a win. My argument "why outsource vastly superior equipment? Let them keep the money losing equipment. We finally had the whole RJ industry over a barrel = major leverage!"

ALPA and MGT both want to diversify their pot of honey imo. They don't want too much of the network in our hands. It was a win for both. Ironic that the very group that could have shot this down and has been hurt the most by the RJ, supported it. I'd call that a good sales job!

I don't think ALPA is evil, they just look out for ALPA's interest. The other group would be only our interest represented at the table.

That may be true, but it hasn't done any good for APA, USAPA, or FAPA. They face the same issues, & watch large RJs painted in their colors not operated by their pilots.

Jungle Bus,

Here are the Year over Year figures for RPMs and ASMs for the Delta Connection regional carriers in the post contract world (Data came from Delta's news archives which only went back to DEC12)

ASMs RPMs

DEC -9.5% -9.5%
JAN -6.9% -7.1%
FEB -13.0% -13.3%
MAR -6.7% -10.4%
APR -4.3% -8.7%
MAY -3.2% -5.9%
JUN -4.9% -7.3%

Anybody who thinks the scope clause from the last contract was some sort of boon for Delta Conection simply doesn't understand it's effects. When fully carried through, there will be far fewer seats flying for the regionals (ASMs), there will be far fewer passengers who bought a 'Delta ticket' and end up on a Regional (RPMs) and fewer Regional pilots who fly for Delta connection. Those are just the facts.

I'm not saying that mainline is growing by leaps and bounds right now, those of us here know it's not.....but it's not because jobs are being sold to DCI. On the contrary, under this contract, DCI is taking the brunt of the cuts.

I'm the bud and i'm on no "watch list". I'm not out sick with a cold, i have had 3 hospital procedures in the last month. The Chief pilot called after 15 days consecutive out to ask if i was ok and if i was going to verify it. I said absolutely and told him what was going on, he was very caring on the phone and understanding. I have stayed up front of everything and kept in contact with the company, the union and DPMA. There is a process leading into the DPMA or disability and its the company's process that says you have to use sick time first before DPMA or harvey watt kick in.

Now if someone is out sick for extended period of time for a cold or simple sickness than i could see more questions from the company but with legit hospital/surgery stuff its pretty easy to see its legit.

So far the company has been great and i havent had any issues at all. Hopefully recovery is quick enough that i can get back before disability kicks in. We shall see

here's the reason for my "pattern" ,

The DCI system would have been in a world of hurt with all the 50 seaters and the new FAA rules not to mention the maintenance issues. They may not have been able to staff the numbers of aircraft they had and it may have imploded eventually on it's own. We gave them a solution that is workable for the time being for as you say, "single digit raises".

How though did we sell out the next generation of pilots and what would have happened if we didn't pass the TA? Was management just going to throw in the towel and put 76 seat flying onto mainline? And is it our responsibility to worry about the next generation of pilots not yet on our list or to worry first about those on the list who have lost so much over the last 12 years? And why are we still hashing over a TA that passed a year ago? When I look around the industry this is a great place to work. Let's move on and figure out how to improve things when the next opportunity comes up.

Here is my point: Replacing uncertain profit sharing with a regular wage was not a problem for me. I don't think profit incentives are useful for a non-management, hourly wage worker.
I don't disagree with your perspective as I prefer my income to cone from my monthly paycheck and not from an annual profit sharing check.

My displeasure is that we were asked to give some money in order to get some money which ultimately is just moving money around.

Furthermore, if we look at best case scenario and the company brings in exactly 2.5 billion PTIX then the amount of realized cost savings is $125,000,000. That was a cost benefit to the company at the expense of ALL employee groups. Me-too clauses work both ways.

The DPMA people are great. They can guide you throughout the process. Also, the Harvey Watt lady was very helpful. Went the the process last year.

Once again Johnso is sounding like a corporate salesman and slanting the view. Three pages after he posted this, Superpilot told the real story.
This wasn't a guy just missing three trips with unverified sick with no doctor visit head cold, it was a guy with a hospital surgery and thus a ton of "verify"-worthy paperwork.

And YES HE DID get a call from the company! In another post Johnso slants his case again saying "Then he chose to call and verify it because he would exceed 100 hours of usage", while Superpilot tells the real story, " The Chief pilot called after 15 days consecutive out to ask if i was ok and if i was going to verify it."

It doesn't really matter which of the three triggers the CPO tells you caused him to call... either you get a call or you don't from the company asking "Hey what's up with your sick? can you explain it to me (we're here to help etc. if we think it doesn't sound fishy...)". He just posted that he did get a call.

Of course guys who get calls have "shown a pattern"! A pattern of USING THEIR SICK LEAVE, and not being as healthy as the guy sitting at a desk checking up on them. This excuse of "good faith, they showed a pattern of badness man!" is exactly akin to this type of thinking by police:
"Every one is treated the same under the laws, but we pull THESE guys over and frisk them a lot more because they show a suspicious pattern--they're black, they live in this ghetto, they were walking around and not in an office working, and they were younger than forty! CLEARLY a nefarious pattern that justifies us calling them to check on their so-called-sick-leave, err I mean jacking them up and frisking them."

The proof of "liberty" and a culture of freedom isn't in pointing to a few cases where someone was NOT violated, if you can ALSO point to folks who WERE violated! That is absolutely faulty logic that even a middle-school debate club wouldn't miss. This is a logic "truth" test-- it's true until you can find one example of falseness, and then it is FALSE, proven.

We've got cases of folks getting called at home in the first month for sick use, case closed. Pointing to a guy who had spinal surgery who "stayed up front with everything and kept in contact with the company", who got called at 15 days to verify his sick leave, is NOT proof that everything's hunky-dory...

Generally disappointed with the thinking from Johnso, starting to seriously think he may be Bill Lumberg...

Based on his incessant cheerleading, johnso must be bucking for a job in the chief pilot's office.

Once he decided to do some ALPA work, his tune changed completely. Sad. The good thing is that his and Alfas twisting the truth and using funny math is not winning people over to their belief system.
