Will it? How are we already certain that will be the case? What if only 100 accept recall, & no military leaves come back? Everyone seems to be assuming that every MIL leave guy is at the end of his leave. Some of the military leaves just went on leave recently. As in last month.

I know one furloughed guy at JetBlew that won't be coming back. In 2007 they said they were going to hire 300 and didn't stop until they hit 800. I was told they always say a low number then exceed it because if they say 800 then stop at 500 investors see that as a negative sign. Not sure investors watch pilot hiring that close, but kinda made sense.

The hiring is 1/2 of the equation, now when will the WB order be announced?

I've run across some mil guys who came back within the past year. Technically, I have to assume they weren't furlough bypass, but if not, what was their classification? Maybe it was an inaccurate take on my part, but I remember one guy who was on his 737 OE who said he had been flying a recon blimp (from the ground) and hadn't flown in some time (+7 years?). Maybe he was above the cut line for furlough. So my question is: were some of the mil guys who have been gone since 2001 been offered the opportunity to come back in 2007/08 and 2010, but passed it up and thus are in this group of 200? If so, how long were/are they allowed to stay in that status--do they have to come back this time around or be cut from the furlough ranks? If the answer is 10 years, how were they able to stay on furlough status after 10 years from 2001? When did furloughing last take place?:confused:

That and when they over-promise they get chewed to pieces. Not sure if they hear about it, but the "hiring in the fall of '12" rankled quite a few when it turned out to be sweet nothings.

It can happen a couple of ways. So lets say furloughed in 2001 (went back in military) offered recall in 2006 went on by-pass (because did not have enough military leave to get retirement) accepted recall to new hire class in 2007 then went directly on mil leave then retired in 2012 and came back off of military leave.

Or

the guy could have stayed on by-pass until 2010 hiring and can stay out until 2015 on military leave.

Very complicated. Basically MIL guys can come back any time their MIL commitment is over - we do not have to be hiring for MIL guys to come back. The MIL number will probably fluctuate and may come down a little but not much - a friend just went out for 16 months last fall (99 hire).

As far as when they have to come back that is even more complicated. If a mobilization is deemed "In support of " a bunch of things like Iraqi Freedom , Noble Eagle, New Dawn etc, the clock stops ticking. This will include most of the DAL Pilots on MIL LV. So most people on MIL Leave will probably be trickling in over the next few years as others go out on MIL LV.

There may be a slight uptick in MIL guys returning but hiring Per se does not really affect MIL guys returning.

You got beef with guys exercising their seniority rights? If they had come back when first recalled, Delta probably wouldn't have hired as many as they did in 07-10. Would you have made the cut back then?
