Just an aside, 73N guys, the new WDR Data Link upload thing rocks.

Carry on.

Purple's ideology is doom, despair, and agony. He's miserable. And if he's miserable, you should better be miserable too. But no matter how comfortable he is in his black cloud (or "spectrum"), I do not have to join him in his rage. That doesn't make me or anyone else complacent, lazy, disinterested, . It may just mean we have a life outside DAL. We may even just be balanced and reasonably content human beings with a different perspective.

BTW, his contribution is always negative. I have much more respect for the worst ALPA or DPA volunteer there is. They at least are doing something. Throwing poo from the computer isn't hard work (even if it is fun).

Fingers crossed that the new awards are better.

It's a symptom of a complacent, risk-averse, and disinterested pilot group that's unwilling or unable to realize how much influence our money will have if we keep it within our pilot group (and cut off the fat cats and moochers at ALPA).
I wouldn't exactly call 93-94% of pilots voting in the last TA "disinterested".

What will change with DPA, IAM, IBEW or even the UAW if the Delta pilot group is still composed of "complacent, risk-averse and disinterested pilots"? That's why your logic fails.

Do you really think that Delta Air Lines Inc gives a flying leap who represents us? Nope. We work in an industry governed by the RLA. No union can give us more "influence".

I should hopefully be holding a line due to my vacation in August. They are trying to fix that glitch.

Some backdoor B's and A's are out again.
Wow, the new PBS topdown algorithm seems to have TOTALLY boofed me!
I kid you not, what has worked very well for years this time worked... but didn't. It gave me everything I asked for but did it by saying immediately "Ok, here's the four worst trips in the bidpack... AWARD TRIPS. Weekends off honored, AvDaily credit/Redeye/min-layover not honored. Here's your 16 hr 4-day redeyes...WhaaaaaBAM!

I'm going to have to about triple my PBS algorithm lines it seems, and line by line "award... avoid...but award THIS while avoiding ABC..." Gah.

I hope this is just an interim version I'm seeing, and it gets re-run for me again!

Default 2013-2014 hiring is now official

Hey everyone they posted the hiring on delta net. It's official! Best of luck to all. It had a interesting note that it's 50 per month until early 14' then 20 per month but that is likely to change according to SD. I assume this can only mean that more than 300 are likely. I sure hope so for all those involved.

Good Luck everyone, Delta is head and shoulders the best of the 4 airlines I have worked for!

As a side note my buddy at Compass MEC said Delta told them 115 on Friday. Don't quote me but that seems a little high as if I recall the max was 25% of the list on any given 12 months based on the seniority list as of Aug 2010. I don't believe in Aug. 2010 we had 460 pilots. Something to watch. I sure hope Delta brings in a good mix of Military guys/gals. Even though I was civilian it sure was nice to have the wide spectrum of ideas and experiences.

Buzz, you liked the WDR upload? I just used it 4 or 5 times, and found it to be more pain than gain. We got runway changes several times and it would have been easier to just enter the data, rather than accepting/reviewing or rejecting/entering. Also, it always gives you very very close to a balanced field, which IMO is not a good thing. If your Capt is slightly more conservative, the auto chosen WDR nums don't work and have to be rejected before manual entry (to get rid of the prompt). I kinda felt it was one more thing removing me another step from being in touch with the jet, right at the time when we're trying to boost hand-flying pilot-brain-deciding-engaged.

OTOH, I can see that if you do accept the suggested WDR, it could speed things up. It was pretty neat-o, and it gives you something to look forward to if you're bored around D04.
