The 321's will replace the 757's, the A330's will replace the older 767ER's.

You know, the fleet plan through 2017 is posted on deltanet. It might do you some good to look at it before you post your opinion.

Absolutely!

Now now. We wouldn't want facts getting in the way of negativity and pessimism. :D

Growth or replacement? I know DAL won't tip their hand yet, but any rumors to which it will be? I guess by the time we receive the aircraft the market landscape may have changed.

Based on the current fleet plan, they're growth airplanes. That fleet plan is available on Deltanet, & is through 2017.

We can also highlight this:

"...These A330s and A321s will provide tremendous flexibility for Delta to optimally manage our capacity over the next five years while further improving the flight experience for our customers and returns for our shareholders..."

That's what they're really after: dial-a-fleet. From delaying a retirement, to delaying deliveries, they have "tremendous" flexibility in matching supply to demand. They don't tell us whether these are growth, because they themselves don't have to decide yet.

I would imagine we'll grow ~GDP, + a couple of % because someone will do something weird in terms of trying to gain "market share", and we'll flex (a little) muscle based on a cost advantage vs. most of the industry. So maybe a little aggressive behavior.

I'd guess about 4% annual growth.

Wow...a rumor that actually came true. Anyone care to guess what this does to the hiring numbers?

500 per year indefinitely.

Oui oui, Fifi!

Now a pay rate for the almost 757 weight 321 gets to be negotiated...

Yep.. and then let the debate begin. Do we want a 321 rate that pays 757+ rates, but pays more than it's common category counterparts? Or do we want all aircraft in the category to pay the same which would mean less than 757 probably? (disclaimer.. I just don't think realistically you can expect the 319 to pay the same as a 757 due to revenue generation before someone says "why shouldn't they all pay 757 rates)

I want WIDE BODY and NARROW BODY rates and be done with it all...

Like FedEx!

Bring all narrowbody to the new A321 rate what ever that is, and all widebody rates to the 747/777.

If AA and UAL can each fly nearly 100 777/747 plus 787 and A350 we can afford to pay these rates.

NO ARGUMENT OR DEBATE NEEDED. BECOME UNIFIED AND BE DONE WITH IT!!!
