Can we PUULLLEEEAAASSSSEEEE quit beating the dead horse of C2012??? Was it perfect? No. Was it a step forward? Yes. Could we have done better? Yes. Does arguing over who's crank is bigger now do any of us any good? NO! We are now what, a year +/- from openers? All we are doing on here is publicly demonstrating our division, as if the DPA derailment wasn't enough. The more divided we are will have a direct correlation in the amount of $ we extract from the Company.
Want to do something useful with our time instead of fighting each other? We need to be informational picketing the White House over the Pre-Clearance facility and Norwegian Air. We are being boiled slowly and the camels nose is no longer under the tent....he's IN the tent. Cabbotage is coming our way faster than a fat lazy Congressman can be bought off. THIS is how they will solve the Pilot shortage. Wait for it. Within 5 years Norwegian, Ryan or another startup will order 6-700 737's to be flown in the US. Boeing will trip over itself to lobby for Cabbotage. If we don't stop this NOW...it's too late. Calling on ALPA, APA, SWAPA to issue a Nationwide SOD and shut it down. Lobbying has been tried and failed. In the meantime we are still in a p!ss!ng contest over who was right about C2012. WAKE THE F UP!!! |

While its certainlly not bad news, it still doesn't point to anything beyond the 300 originally approved. There's still more classes on the way through summer, and obviously they have to have places to put them.
I do find it interesting that we are still interviewing even though the pool + flows is already enough to more than cover what remains of the original 300 openings (including furlough returns). Gloopy, The 300 number is meaningless. When we had to spool up for hiring that was the number that was used to put a cost to hiring and was approved by the BOD. The "plan" right now is that we will be hiring for the next 15 years. That can change tomorrow and so is also pretty meaningless. FWIW I have heard some ridiculously specific numbers recently (closer to 3 times the 300 number than 2 x the 300 number) and then within 2 hours have heard a number closer to 2 X the 300 number. As you pointed out we are already blowing through the 300 number so that should satisfy everyone that the 300 number is meaningless. We will probably change the "official" number in the late spring/early summer. And yes new hires going directly into the ER is being discussed and may happen. Scoop :) |
Checking a Bag on the JS?
What is the process for this? I am JS listed FLL-ATL-SAN and have to check a bag. Can I curbside check my bag with my record locator number?
Thanks Scoop |

Scoop :) The list is down by around 1000 since the merger, and half the 300 "hires" were furlough returnees. Big hiring numbers are certailly possible and realistic, but if it is to materialize the dam needs to open wider than it has and needs to do so pretty soon for 2014 to have any chance of being a truly big year. What I don't get is the urgent top secret nature of any number over 300. If we need it, why it is so hard to get approved? I don't buy that Wall Street is going to tank the stock over a couple hundred pilot positions on an almost 12,000 pilot list if those pilots are needed to produce revenue. I don't get why a couple hundred pilots is so controversial if they are needed. Still greatful for the trend vector moving in the right direction though. |
Aircraft retirement schedule 14-17
Here is the latest retirement schedule. Subject to change of course.
2014- 14 757 2015- 15 757 2016- 13 757 2017- 22 757 4-767 Over the next 4 years we lose 64 757 and 4 767 airframes. In addition we retired 16 757 airframes in 2013. No other aircraft types were listed for retirement. We should gain around 205 airframes over that period. Net gain 135 plus airframes. |
It is written in one of the news letters that the fulough returnees are not included in the 300 new hire positions. That has been clarified.

I disagree with any kind of job action, it's illegal and wouldn't have the intended result anyway. Heck, we can't even get 20% of pilots to click on a weblink to support pro-pilot issues, how many do you think would walk off the job and stop collecting a paycheck over it? Plus as soon as things settled down after any illegal job action there would be even more legislation to allow non-union, foreign airlines into the US so it couldn't be taken hostage by "those greedy pilots" again. There are less than 1 in 5 ALPA pilots that contribute to the PAC and less than 1 in 10 that will do a simple Call to Action....... We are our own worst enemy. Hey T, did you ever sign up for District Advocate training since you won't join the PAC? OBTW, I still think you should join the PAC!!! |
