I don't follow....
Does delta hire thugs to strong arm pilots in the jetway into picking up more flying at the of a trip?

There used to be jetway assignments, occasionally. A person would meet you in the jetway and give you the assignment. You had no option, but to take it. It often happened on your last fly day. Now they do the same thing via acars.

This whole extending a REG pilot at the end of his rotation is complete bull. Extending a pilot to pick up extra legs on his last day should pay green slip pay at the very least. This whole REG line pilot being used as a hot reserve is a big ol' pile of malarkey. I get the occasional reroute mid trip or delays outside the company's control, but the extra legs added on is extremely jive turkey.

Deahhead, Way, way back in the day... Ron Allen (the less gifted RA) refused to hire and the 727 SO position was flogged worse than the skinny guy in the slave galley. Guys were assigned trips enroute, in the jetway, at the bottom of the airstairs as they tried to escape and in the employee parking lot. I do not exaggerate (although I'm the parking lot thing didn't happen too much.) The bow wave these guys amassed was huge and eventually screwed away by ALPA in a side letter/agreement. (Bow wave was where your time went over 70hrs.) There might be a very few guys left that experienced that but I would guess most are retired or dead.

Well... this seemed to fit.

What's a sandy phone? handy?? :D

I like not having a smart phone. I used to do it strictly because of the additional cost, but now I also enjoy feeling like the last "real person" in many places. Restaurants, airports, bars, wherever. It's enough that somebody can text me if I have my phone -- the last thing I need is to be expected to see an e-mail on the same device.

I'm gonna see how many more years I can go without it.

Not bias either way, but from never hearing of the guy to DPA slayer, now that is quite a jump.

Back in the day, I was at Roscoe's, the restaurant over at the MAT. We were just starting to furlough. This LCA is telling me and my soon to be furloughed FO how he was assigned a green slip and he had to take it because he made the mistake of answering his phone.

I'm thinking to myself, you didn't try very hard, you wanted it and were just using answering your phone as an excuse.

It's the same with jet bridge assignments. I've gotten out of multiple jet bridge assignments. All you have to say is either you don't have child care or you are fatigued. You can come up with other good reasons. However, I wouldn't use I just had drink :) If a guy takes it, he can complain all he wants. But, deep down, he really wanted it.
