Merry Christmas!
Well, I decided to delve into the GoogleVerse finally, and ended up buying a Nexus7 minitablet, a Samsung Tab3 10.1" tablet, an ASUS Win8.1 tablet/laptop transformer, and minecraft accounts for kids.
Wow everything is quite different to childprotect... I'm in IT hell kinda, networking it all up (not bad), adding kid's accounts (bit painful), setting protections for kids (very painful), and setting up games for kids accounts via admin account (uber painful as they force me to install various java updates etc...)

Now I'm running XPpro, Win2001Pro, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Android 4.3 SamsungFlavor, Android4.3 JellyBean, and two iPhones syncing around the place. Oh yeah, and two PS3 media servers and a network file server and network printer.

For myself for Xmas, I got some MP3s of Gregorian Chants and a flail. Starting to wish I was flying...

I can't think of any other forum appropriate adjectives that describe my ire.

You may need to un-ire yourself. I doubt Sailing has any function in ALPA. He's a senior captain that seems to have a variety of friends, some of which sound like friends of the pilot group, some that seem to be friends of just senior captains, some that seem to really dig management. So he's sort of management-adjacent, and sometimes delivers their spin faster than a LCA meeting ever could. He's also knowledgeable and informative.

Like you, he struggles with some terms. He doesn't differentiate between "your" and "you're". You can elude to that on your next post. He'll really abhor it.;)

And Merry Christmas.

From a long time lurker....Happy Holidays to all you guys. I started coming to this site for info as a Delta guy but have become addicted. Some pretty funny mofos on here...seems like a lot of the sharpest guys on here are fairly junior....speaks to a good future for the airline...or air line.

Sink r8 12-25-2013 06:19 PM

Happy Holidays, Lurker. I have to agree: some of the more senior guys on APC just aren't as sharp. :)

Something lighthearted:

NYT Dialect Quiz with a map, IN COLOR!!! You'll forward it.

Well, I'm definitely

ATL based. I am firmly BHM in dialect but really anywhere from Texas to Virginia but not Florida.

PVD, we have nothing in common.

Hey Sink... you won't get any argument from me on that. Timbo and T are the only senior guys that consistently make sense without an agenda to me. And at least Timbo doesn't have an irrational hate on New England teams.

Anyone know if a good hotel with crew rates near CVG?

Hey! You're violating a seniors right to post. You're age-phobic. Next call is to ProStan.

jk

CAAC,

Sailing said that he heard from a scheduler that Pilots called in sick after an assignment. I say big deal - If you are sick you are sick. I did not see Sailing place any blame.

Pilots call in sick when they are sick. The company cancels flights when they are short Pilots. Unless this was some sort of concerted activity (which I don't believe that it was) too bad for the company for poor planning.

I can think of numerous ways for the company to pro-actively mitigate the usual shortage of crews over holidays, but they apparently think the G/S and IA policies are sufficient. Granted there would be a cost associated with these policies, but then again there is definitely a cost in canceled flights over the Holidays.

Its very unfortunate for our passengers, but I certainly didn't see any intended blame or malice in his statement.
