Apparently, the Company has taken it up itself to restrict X-day moves in int'l categories in the same way that domestic categories have always been restricted, i.e., you can't create a block of on-call days greater than six. To make matters worse, they've even programmed it so that we can't increase a block of 7-12 on-call days to something less than 14 as we used to be able to do.

Would have been nice to have known this prior to bidding.

Thanks, that's a nice amount. I told my "Yes" voter captain about that a few weeks ago. He didn't believe me (which was not surprising at that point, if you know what I mean). He kept saying, "They put aside $500 million for profit sharing." $290M vs $405M, or put another way an avg of $26,363/pilot vs $36,818.

The odd part in the two incidents mentioned; Asiana in SFO and SW at wrong airport, is that in the first case, they did rely too much on the automation, and in the second case, they seemed to ignore it.

So...which is it; do we need to rely more on automation to find the right airport at night, or ignore it to make a day VFR landing when the ILS is inop?

That is a good point. There does seem to be a conflict between the two. Some guys recommend some hand flying while others say "use the automation, that's what it is there for". I like your suggestion. Recurrent includes two weeks of Pitts flying:D

Gents, I'd appreciate it if someone would field a couple of questions as I plan my return from mil leave.

1. When I return, I'll have been out of the cockpit for 16 months. I plan to return to the same plane. Do I go through full initial training, or some fraction thereof?

2. When I tell the company where I want to drop back in, do I base that on the staffing list current during the month I call, or on the projected staffing list for the month I'll actually show up? This is a big deal for me - it's the difference between SLC and DTW.
