Gotta love perx!!!
Wife and I did 9 days down in Costa Rica. Riu palace. Our flights to Liberia Costa Rica usually have seats. $1200 bucks total at the time ...we paid extra for excursions...Safari...monkeys, crocs, man what a blast. The coffee and bananas are to die for....you've never had either till you've been there. We'd wake up some mornings, grab that coffee and help the security staff dig up the turtle eggs on the beach so they could be moved to a safer place. Simply a once in a lifetime experience. I will never forget the snorkeling....20 bucks and 500 ft away.
Can't recommend it enough. Great for couples or families. Fly2002 |

PUJ Riu Palace best for kids and adults.... Been there 3 years in a row boys 12/15......
Perx has good rates or call hotel directly...... Did not move for 9 days except to sail the Hobies BTW 8 nights AI total cost 2750.... Not bad! BTW, perx is owned by expedia now, its a good place to start, then you call the resort and negotiate down from the perx rate. |

It's been that way for me for 25 years. All the best vacation weeks are gone after the first two awards. Just do move ups and you should come out ok.
The last two years I've been able to slide an early Dec. week over Christmas, and an early Nov. week over Thanksgiving. Both were weeks I couldn't hold in the initial vac. bid run. June, July and Aug are still going to be all gone after Round 1 though, so it's impossible to get both a Dec. week and a Summer week unless you are very senior in category. |

After 15 years on the Professional Standards committee, I have yet have a paid trip drop. I know many other ALPA volunteers that do the same. Yes, you ARE getting our services for free.
Thanks for serving us! Are there or are there not paid staff members in the contract admin and scheduling shops? Yes. That is what I was referring to. But you knew that. |

Yeah, I've called in with scheduling questions before and they were always answered by a retired scheduler. Pretty sure he's not there pro bono.
Again, thanks for volunteering CVG767. |

I called and left a question today. I know its SB weekend and I don't expect an immediate returned call. Just an accurate one when called. Guys that volunteer rock, and those that are on our dime, I applaud them as well. I like the support we get.
Speaking of- what is the min sit time for us to be required to be given a hotel? I got rerouted into a 4:55 one yesterday (while descending through 11,000 feet back into mecca... talk about a distraction- probably should ASAP that one). I didn't particularly mind it since my parents were passing through trying to get home and it was nice getting to spend time with them. I appreciate and understand the company trying to get its legs back under it after such a strange sequence of events on tues/wed and try to help out whenever possible... but that reroute was a stretch. Were anything to have hiccuped more than about 15 minutes, I would have run into FDP extension issues (and it did hiccup 10 minutes). Literally every lineholder was being utilized as a reserve the past few days. |
The -scheduled- sit time limit used to be 5 hours, after that they had to get you a hotel room.
On the Super Bowl thing, like most big games it will probably come down to; 1. Turnovers 2. Penalties Just ask Sherman or Crabtree about that! And if you are Alabama; 3. Last second field goal attempts. |

On the Super Bowl thing, as usual it will most likely come down to; 1. Turnovers 2. Penalties Just ask Sherman or Crabtree about that! And if you are Alabama; 3. Last second field goal attempts... That's what I thought... Thanks! It's sad when I try to remember one of our work rules and can't remember if I'm accidentally mistaking it for my former regional airline's awful rules. I'm still undecided on the super bowl and agree with your assessment. At this point, I'm just looking forward to sitting down with my Torpedos leftover from last week and enjoying a good ball game (as well as a bunch of commercials that were released early that I refused to watch because that kills the fun of it)! |
