I never went on mil leave. I was already retired. I was furloughed and did defer recall for a bit. My DOH was 6/01, furloughed 11/01, recalled in 2007 and came back 2/2008. My "benefits start date" according to the vacation peeps is August of 2002.

From the really stupid questions that a Delta guy should know with almost 13 years seniority department.....
What is the difference between DOH and Benefits Start Date? I assumed I'd get a fourth week of vacation this year since I have 12 plus years of seniority. I spoke with the vacation people and my 12 years didn't start until my "Benefit Start Date" which was a year plus later. Help? |
On a different note I have flown with two guys who had the new Vette on order but no one who has actually taken delivery or driven one. Anyone driven one who might have some comments good or bad?

Ahh Bucharest. I proposed to a stripper there once. She was heading to Tel Aviv the next day. Alas it didn't work out.

That bypass period adjusted your benefits date, it also adjusted your pay dates.

Thanks Drank. I was hired June '01, so I'm approaching 13 years. This is the first time I've ever even heard of the "benefit start date." Is that the end of my probation year? The way I read the PWA, it should be 12 years from DOH. Any ideas guys? Or am I just stupid?
daldude hit on it just up above-- did you have ANY time off from the company whatsoever between Jun 01, furlough, furlough recall, and mil leave? If you bypassed your furlough recall by a month, that would make it non-continuous employment and you probably would lose that yr. Furlough was counted, as was long mil leave, so long as you accepted furlough recall the first day that was available/offered to you. You should have 4 weeks if there were no breaks. EDIT--just saw the further info you posted: " recalled in 2007 and came back 2/2008." that's the year that didn't count, so you don't have 13 yrs duty and thus don't have 4 weeks vacation yet this year. To which I ask: WHAT were you thinking delaying your return by a year?? ;) (I was thinking "still in bankruptcy, don't trust them, not gonna get burned again!" when I punched back to mil leave...) |
