I like being juvenile though.

HA! That would be funny. Do that on one of those crew relocation flights after a snow storm.

I flew with a guy who made you laugh without trying. He just did funny things and he had the accent and so forth to make it funnier.

My favorite was we got notified mid pushback in MCO about a delay going to LGA. Now prior to push he had been dealing with his son who had lost their dog and a neighbor had found the dog but now the 22 year old son was awol. He was frustrated but we continued normal ops. So as we're pushing he begins to make a PA about the delay. A long PA.

Then the phone rings with one of those old rotary phone ring tones at max volume. He wasn't going to answer. But evidently, he wasn't going to mute it either.

It rang. He kept talking. And rang. Talking continued. And rang. Still talking. Rang some more. Still explaining the nuances of EDCT times. Then voicemail.

On the outside I was looking at the floor is disbelief, on the inside I was...

He was a great guy to fly with, I'd fly with him any day. I'd even be his wingman if it didn't mean losing my certificates and job.

How many of you wear your hat when saying bye to the PAX?
I wear my hat from the time I get out of the truck til I get back in the truck. End of story. Always on.

Yes I do.

It hides my mullet better, I can hide the bushy bangs and the tail in my hat.

I am confused why they would allow guys to go to the 7ER if they're planning on displacing it, unless, they are 80% sure they'll displace but in case the 20% happens (see DC9 for details) they don't want to get caught flat footed.

That's the only way I could explain that.

Now they offer even MORE positions that won't even train until LATER in the fall that they will need to displace before they even hit the line? Definitely not buying what you're selling.

There are lots of guys moving off the top of the ER categories into NB CA seats and to "super premium WB" FO seats that are vacated by CA upgrades, and that schedule is going to continue to require CA's at the rate of 5.5 aircraft per month (at least 25 CA's per month) for the next two years.... NOT accounting for the additional 5 A330's coming in 2015 and the 5 A330's/10 A321's in 2016.

Crew planning is always going to take a more conservative public stance so they don't have to backtrack on estimates that get construed as promises.

Keep being a Debbie Downer though, it's good for your soul.
I'm nothing close to a Debbie Downer; just passing on what I was told. If you don't want to believe the words that came out of the mouth of SD and our network guy, fine. I'm just telling you what I was told. You can ask anyone who was in ATL on Profit Sharing day if you don't want to believe me. I'm fine with bouncing back and forth from ER to 73N for now, but that may not be ok with everybody.

We can chat again late fall and see how it turns out. Cheers.

I have very very high doubts on these ER FO awards getting bumped this fall. The chances of that happening are up there with BB voluntarily bidding the MD88 or tsquare bidding an airbus! There are too many planes coming online for any sort of bumps to happen... yet. Eventually there will be, just not this soon.

The big question I have is when are we going to see some premium and super premium widebody slots open up?

Noticed in the latest "Vectors" from ALPA that they are giving up on their useless "Blog" as the pilot bulletin board.

"On Monday we will transition back to an onsite moderated Committee Corner and Blog. The off site blog was not as user friendly nor as popular as we had hoped. You will be able to ask questions of Subject Matter Experts, and comment on our blogged articles. All comments will be pre-moderated."

I had never seen a more useless way to disseminate information and discuss items in a decade or more of regular internet use. But - it sounds like they aren't including the part where us pilots can discuss issues, just the Committee folks. Sure - we can comment and if it's pertinent they will let the posting through.

The idea that they would bump people out of the ER either a month or two after they convert or WHILE IN TRAINING just seems ludicrous. I don't know why some people on here aren't using common sense. I think they are expecting some widebody advancement and want to protect the ER from that motion.

If there are excess people on the -88 or other narrow bodies in the summer [which I doubt] why not just leave them there for a few months - they did that in the ER in the past. Easier to pay them to sit reserve to covert IROPS than push them through training twice where you're paying them ALV or whatever anyway.

Y'all (not 80kts) sound like the chick in Ferris Bueller about what she heard at 31 Flavors last night...
