Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I don't think ALPA's concerned about a flood of airlines offering to hire Americans to fly 777's for "significantly more" than the Legacies pay now, it's the companies that will pay less and base in Singapore that is the threat. Creation of stateless carriers will turn the industry into the maritime industry and in quick order Africa, ME, and Central America will hold the certificates to the worlds aircraft cause, hey, no oversight, limited regulation, and look how cheap the fares are.
The airlines operating in the US should be. I remember when we were in BK, Grinstein, on two occasions, expressed concern in private conversations about pilots, mostly FOs, leaving for foreign carriers.
With state side basing for those same gigs, they are going to attract way more pilots. When their compen$ation out runs what companies here are willing to part with, even more will be enticed.
Competition will not be only be for the passenger and their dollars, but for the currently trained and experienced crews. Take them from a competitor and even better.
Going forward, yes. The ones there get grandfathered. There is zero reason to go overseas now. Every legacy is going to be hiring in droves for the foreseeable future. If you go to a foreign owned carrier ESPECIALLY if they have US bases... blackball.
Assuming it is done above board. Why didn't guys who wore brown suits that didn't get hired at DAL sue? Because they couldn't prove it. This is war. And of course a union that has a good working relationship with management might be able to "suggest" that those that went to a foreign owned carrier were directly contributing to unfair competition, and ultimately cabotage issues that will probably arise before you and I retire... therefore... since resumes never get seen... ooops, just didn't make the cut. too bad.
I got another for ya.
I won't ever bid the 747/777/A330 left seat. (Not that I will be able to hold them before age 95 is implemented anyway) So you don't have to worry about me getting in your way there.
You are one number closer.

One thing many pilots don't understand is how radically the court system has turned against unions. The big wave of Bush appointed judges in the early nineties were the final nails in the coffin. There once was a time when a airline union could express dissatisfaction about a contract and negotiations in a number of ways. Those days are gone and we sadly live at the mercy of the NMB.
