More MadDog trivia: A sim instructor told us the MD-88 will do a single-engine autoland, but it's not authorized because DAL "didn't buy the certification for that."

Same on the 756/76. They demonstrated it to us as a "back-pocket" thing. Good to know, in case the Pilot gets sucked into an engine, and there is no one left onboard but a "First Officer", whatever a First Officer is. In that case, they can get a F/A to IM their supervisor using GoGo, and be directed to find the button that says "Autoland".

I know how this works, because I saw it in the USA Today.

Yes, in 08 LAX 73N went to new-hires at least through the March 2008 class. Keep in mind back then LAX had 3 categories: 7ER, 767 and 73N.

It didn't happen in 2010.

As of May this year, the plug will be a 2/18/2008 hire...and I couldn't be more excited. :D

Cheers

The 73N will do an undocumented single engine autoland.

Even better, the 73N throttles know nothing about the rest of the plane and will retard the throttles to idle for an autoland anytime the RA goes below 27 ft.

There's an upcoming AD for that...

Anybody else get sick after eating at Willy's on B, Sunday?

Me and the captain both ate the only common food/drink that day and got sick that night and the next morning respectively...

I really like the place, but thats too coincident.

Cheers
George

You were both sitting in the same cockpit after the same last two pilots....

I don't believe there were any LAX or SLC slots to any of the guys hired in 07. By 08 though there were a couple of slots in class for LAX and SLC but not many. No slots to any of the 10 hires but some of those guys did get in fairly quickly though most have since been booted out. If you want one of those bases I would try to get a 73N slot and if hiring continues at the pace planned you should be able to get in within a couple years. My bet is we see newhire slots when we start to staff for the 330 unless we see lots of ER displacements in LAX and SLC next fall. Things are finally starting to look good around here for some forward movement. Good time to be getting hired.

AME in ATL...Northside??

Anybody have recommendations for AME in ATL, preferable north of the perimeter? If not, that is ok...don't mind driving! Thanks
