Their Capt pay isn't that far above Delta FO pay. I have 2 good friends who went to EK who are both Captains there now. We make about the same but they have the tax advantage which was easily offset by the fact that they are both now divorced with kids. Both went over happily married and that ended quickly.

There's a lot more to it than cash.

So the impending RFP will be telling. My bracket isn't busted on these conclusions and predictions, and in my final four, I have a few 737-900s, but NOTHING bigger from Washington State.

Oh, and how bout my VOLS?
We paid significantly less for the A321's then the 900ER's. The 330's were also a steal assuming airbus gets there act together on the 242 ton version and there are not more delays.
In the end the airbus order was all price. Airbus needed to fill production slots as those programs wind down and we got great deals.
Orders for either the 787 or 350 will not come nearly as cheap on the RFP due out shortly.

KNOXVILLE, TENN. (KFGO-AM) -- People associated with the Fargo Airsho are shaken by word that a popular pilot who performed at the show a number of times has died in a crash in a remote area of Tennessee.

Airshow committee co-chair Dick Walstad says Jim Maroney was killed when his "Super Chipmunk" went down Sunday night south of Knoxville. Walstad says Maroney was headed from his home in Wisconsin to an air show in Florida.

Walstad calls Maroney an outstanding, safety-minded pilot. Maroney, a Casselton native, was a former squadron and group commander for the 1-19th wing of the Air National Guard in Fargo.

He retired from the military in 2002. He was most recently was a chief pilot for Delta Airlines.

I don't disagree at all, and very happy to be a NB FO here. But do hope the tide will turn and some of the progression seen elsewhere will return to the US.

My point exactly. Of course it was based on price. From the LCP meeting I got the impression that we wouldn't see a decision on which widebody and how many until later this year. If it's Boeing, I'll be unconscious for awhile. Regardless though, you and I probably won't see much benefit from this order.

If 50 new hires/month for the next 12+ years is not an indication of a change of tide, I have no clue what is......

You young guys are gonna have an awesome career.

I absolutely get the guarded defensive take nothing for granted always vigilant stance with a silver lining of cynicism there, but come on, man. You Shirly can't think we're that stupid?
