It will never, ever happen. DALPA is vehemently opposed to that level of accountability. It's the same reason we'll never see any survey results--either before or after negotiations.
The beauracracy is lazy and bloated; the guys on the gravy train simply lack the leadership and intestinal fortitude to deliver the level of institutional effort required to attain precisely defined goals. |

Keep them coming. I am sure you guys can find more negative things to say about Delta ordering aircraft. You're not quite up to the usual level of doom and gloom but close!

When's the DPA vote? There's a better alternative.
Are you OK with no goals and no survey results (and thus, no accountability) from DALPA? |

Are you OK with no goals and no survey results (and thus, no accountability) from DALPA? Simple enough? |

The article said that they lost all of the hydraulic fluid. I think accumulators just provide the pressure but still need fluid in the system to work. You would think something like the brakes would have a separate accumulator powered system for just such an occasion. Hopefully a Mad-Dog Pilot will enlighten us.

Having seen "how the sausage is made" on a few occasions I can absolutely say you're speaking out of your posterior. With a very rare exception here and there, our guys do an excellent job working on your (and all our) behalf, having nothing but our collective best interest at heart. If you have constructive criticism, or are actively participating to make it better, then I think we all welcome your input. However, your generalizing/disparaging other Delta pilots continuously shows a lack of class. |

However, your generalizing/disparaging other Delta pilots continuously shows a lack of class. My intent was to bash the institutional inertia that seeks primarily to protect, grow, and insulate the bureaucracy; and to call out the paid, non-elected (and often, non-flying) functionaries that, whether intentionally or not, place the health of the bureaucracy ahead of Delta line pilots' best interests. We both know what I'm talking about. As for some "constructive criticism," well, as GG and schwanker said: publish some concrete, definable goals. And as many, many of us have said: release the survey results. Show some leadership; embrace the chance to display accountability; make a meaningful, concerted effort to earn back badly shaken trust. |
