Wondering what would have the potential for greater income in a 1-3 yr time frame. NYC FO MD-88, or NYC B767ER.
I live 30 mins from LGA and JFK. I've been told better to be senior on a junior airplane but just wondering if the greater hourly rate on the B767ER would make it a wash. If income is your only goal and you don't care about time off, then being senior on the junior plane is the way to go. You keep a white/green slip in the system at all times and fly max hours. You'll almost certainly make more money than sitting reserve on the higher paying jet. However, as the old Delta proverb says: "The problem with green slips is you have to fly them". |

Attention ALPA members.... there is a new call-to-action out right now. If you go to the Delta MEC Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DeltaMECComm
You can get a link to the call to action as well as more information. It's time critical and needs to be done today! |
Doesn't the ER do some good flying out of NYC?
My ER concern is stagnating on the bottom while the fleet diminishes. |

"Diminish" as in planned and announced 757/767 retirements. Going to the NYC 7er as a new hire means sitting near the bottom of the category for many years.

But maybe the ER list moves as 330 staffing opens up this fall and winter. I expect a few senior guys to bid over. The ER picture is not very clear, at least in my mind.

Quick question for some of Delta's latest and greatest....If your starting Initial Qual training halfway through the month, does it make sense to bid a reserve line from a credit point of view? Or is is basically a wash either way?
My interpretation says, holding a regular line you either get trips dropped due to training or a pro rata portion of the ALV. Holding a reserve line, you get a pro rata portion of the ALV. There is a lot more there but I think that's the gist of it. Take this for what it's worth!:) Denny |
