I hope they do it. I think virtual basing would be a very simple thing to do.

He did not have many details, but said we really did not need the CPO infrastructure to have a base these days. Apparently it is getting looked at.

DFW............:D

Hey, Just to build on what Clamp reported I got some more info about what RA had to say, all the same really but:

If so, they were told 3% growth per month starting in January, hadn't heard that before though.
RA has been to China 8 times since the start of summer to secure a deal with an airline there for domestic feed.
Those interest rates for our debt is 9%, UAL 18-23%.
JFK terminal 4 will be owned outright by us, buying out the three current owners. Terminal 2 redone and terminal 3 gone. I know that's the same as Clamp reported.
All mainline out of LGA.
The 29 remaining DC9s after next year might get GPS and will most likely come to ATL.
60% of SOC done.
RA stated again a desire to have 90s at their cheap price over a 3x more expensive 100 seater. Said same thing about 100 seaters, their engines and 744 plans that Clamp reported.

T2 is considerably smaller than T3. What will be done with all that open space between where T3 currently is and the rebuilt T2? How many gates will DL have when everything is said and done?

Somebody told me a while back that the Saucer would not be torn down. It is on the National Historic Register or something. It would have to be incorporated in the new design. Anybody confirm?

The London Bridge was probably on the UK's protect list at one time as well. There's nothing "historic" about the Saucer other than the fact that a lot of famous rodents have passed away there.

DAL was successful in having the saucer removed from the list of historical buildings. It is a goner.

I guess they are serious about this. I say we bring it back to Mecca and put it in the museum.

I'm not familiar with virtual basing. Could someone please explain?

Since you're on the 9, it probably means that you'll be based in GRR tonight, BUF tomorrow night, then FNT, DCA, etc. The company, of course, does not pay for your hotel while you are in base!!!:):):)

Our FA's have several domiciles that are not DAL domiciles. MCO, BOS, and TPA come to mind, however there are more. I believe they have to have at least 21 personnel that live in the area or have interest in the area. Essentially, they start and end their trips in, lets say Tampa. They have to cover each other for sick outs, personal drops, etc. You can't just call in sick and know you will be covered. It is essentially a mini-base. Someone else may elaborate further.

For us, I could see CVG becoming a virtual base. There are a ton of pilots that live in the area, but commute elsewhere. DAL will probably always have a large presence in CVG, but it may disappear as a domicile/hub. If you have enough players in the area and you run enough traffic through the airport, you could essentially just swap out your crews much like a traditional hub but without all the admin/maintenance/CPO resources required by a traditional hub and spoke airport.
