It goes. Always. Pick it up at baggage service. Make sure you save the stubs and use the tracking numbers on the Delta app to track them.

Good info. Thanks for the intel. I'm assuming if you are flying NYC - ATL - MIA and make it to ATL but can't make it to MIA your bag goes the whole way? How would you get it back it you never made it out? Thanks again!

Yes, all the way to the destination on the tag. If it's sitting in MIA for long, you won't even need to worry about it:p

There may be a FedEx option, which you'd have to pay for. That's assuming you can get a human on the phone in MIA. Best bet is to just plan on getting it yourself eventually. Speaking of FedEx, the DL discount is pretty good. If it's only one bag, it might be worth the 30 bucks or so to have it shipped directly to your destination.

Awesome. Thanks. For some reason I though bags on the carousel went to a bag office that might send it back for you. Got it though. Thanks again.

Yes you can have it sent anywhere in the system I think. Too late for your vacation though.

Yep. I've done it & Cape Air works great! Tortola is beautiful btw.

Were you able to buy a discounted reserved seat at the counter in SJU? MyIDTravel doesn't show eticket availability.

Looks like they closed the 777 base in NYC a little early!

I'm with T on this one...very surprised if the pilot retires

Yeah, I ran into a similar scenario last year. Our bags were checked to MCO and we ended up having to go to RSW and drive up. I stopped in the bag claim office in RSW just to make sure the bags were in MCO. There was a nice guy there and they weren't busy so I was talking to him for a couple of minutes. He said stby bags go through to the tagged destination. If you aren't there they hold them until they hear otherwise. He said (in this case) MCO could forward them to RSW. Or if you want they will send them back to where you started. Basically, they will forward them to wherever you want.

Depends on his age. Over 60, big frozen DB plan with lump sum available ? Maybe, just maybe he's had enough. Hopefully as more of the red book guys that had careers we could only dream of will punch out as they hit 60.
