But you would (could) benefit equally, were you to bid a trip that begins or ends with a deadhead and then deviate from that deadhead without using the PS pass.

Thanks for the tip. Done. Tweeted my rep and senators as well.

But the first one (a), I would hope has support from non-commuters as well. Why we lost this from our PWA I don't know. For me, if I'm commuting to reserve I'm not going to be available any sooner than 2 hours after my SC starts anyway. I hope this gets put forth (even though I'm no longer doing reserve). It helps those who are junior in category and can save pilots some money and time away from family without harming anyone.
Unofficially you can still do the same thing you do before the LOA regarding the 2 hour commute to SC deal. Just monitor icrew on your commute into SC and if they tag you with a trip you can acknowledge it while enroute to your base. Whats the difference?

Since I'm not on reserve I hadn't thought of that. (just hope wifi is working)

Good interim measure, but still worth putting the idea forward, IMO.

On first glance I think I agree with this. It's a zero sum deal, where one PS comes out of the system to be used later.

Not a commuter (anymore) but I think this could be really useful for a lot of pilots - taking the stress down and improving QOL.

I agree. As long as you present it as cost neutral to the company they might consider it. However, the devil is always in the details. For example, if you took SWA STL-MCO such as in the example listed, how far in advance do you need to inform the company you won't be using their PS dh? If you kept the dh on your line and only cnx'd after you successfully got on the SWA flight, that doesn't do the company much good. That seat wasn't available for sale until the last minute. However, if you cancelled a week out or so, that would make a difference.

Hoping to get some help deciding on bidding reserve next month since I have vacation. I am under the impression during vacation months reserve is better then a line....if your looking to get the most bang for the buck!
So for the month of Sept. an RES ALV of 77.45 and there are 31 days so 13 X days for resv. I have one week of vacation in middle of the month...will my X days be reduced b/c of vacation within the month and if so by how much?
I understand rolling thunder and will attempt it but with a lower ALV and slower month it might be difficult.
Just need some direction from someone in the know here...
Thanks

Not really. So a PS comes out of the system and either a deadhead or non rev goes in. Fine, as long as there are not dispatchers, other pilots, or a bunch of non revs who are senior to the commuter. In other words, by banking the PS you are creating another non-rev or jumpseater.

Besides the OP stated others trying to help him on the other board were flamers. So, as a non commuter ... I'd be like RD about to say yes, but no ... I was sympathetic towards his unique choice but he burned it.

His other point about the 2 hour commute in has already been answered.
