Of course it did. Carl, you're welcome. Enjoy your artificial seniority.

I GU-AR-AN-TEE you that that training will not take place at any pace that exceeds their normal retirement schedule. This is a GREAT deal for 25 non whale guys, and a GREAT GREAT GREAT deal for any whale guys below number 1400ish that is spared a displacement due to the number of 747 retirements. This whole thing blows. This did nothing to avoid any training problems other than displacements and you are delusional if you believe it did. 747 guys get artificial seniority, and non 747 guys got a huge paycheck AND get to hang around until they actually leave. Why did we not see this offer for the 757 retirements? It's complete bull****.

It seems to me that getting people to leave early should be the goal for everyone.

That's just it. Nobody except the 747 guys that take the bait will leave early.

We can turn "blue" in the face and argue but Alaska is not on the same tier as Delta. Plain and simple.

Knowing this and putting emotions aside, I think Alaska is a good company.

TEN

Well said, plus why would anyone want to fly a 737?

Underestimating staffing needs together with a marketing, move aircraft sine wave, and award and training sine wave that rarely seem to have any harmonics, I predict there will be awards to the 744 before the fleet retires

The 747 guys that would otherwise be displaced get to hold onto an airplane with artificially created seniority, and the non 747 guys will get a nice check upon their normal retirement date. Great deal for them, but means bupkus when the 757s are retired and I get bumped due to that. I say displace 'em, make 'em go to training, and the sooner the better because the remaining viable fence comes down in 4 months.

Whining? Did you bother to read the email from my rep that I posted. He never intimated that I could see the actual language. So yeah...I did bother to talk to my rep via email. I didn't have the luxury of rubbing elbows in the "lounge"

Well...at least we agree on something. I'd better go buy a lottery ticket.

Like doinmyjob said then, you need new reps. Mine offered to show it to me in the lounge. Getting the information you desire... if you REALLY desire it, sometimes is a little inconvenient. I was lucky in that I was off for the day and went over to the airport where they were holding court. If that wasn't possible for you, then I am sorry for that, but unfortunately it is what it is. Ask your reps if they would show it to you in person. If they do... problem solved. If not, you might remind them that they work for you and that you have a right to that language unless it is proprietary which I highly doubt this is. They might have a valid reason for not emailing it as for some reason they do not want to lose control of it, but looking at it in their hands should not be a problem.

I have no idea what your lottery ticket reference is about.

I've been watching the discussion over the past week, or so, and that's the thing I don't understand.

Twenty-five 747captains taking early retirement, instead of twenty-five pilots taking displacements to the A330, hurts me how?

In fact, how doesn't that help me?

Again. His email stated that he was prohibited from distributing the full language. Maybe it was not the case in person. I'm on a 5 day trip....haven't been anywhere to talk to them in person.

Lottery ticket....we agreed on something. Maybe it's a unique day ;)

Perhaps however you guys are making much ado about nothing as far as the ER program. You have missed the forest for the trees as far as widebody redeployment with the 747's is concerned. I am going to pull a Jerry and throw a hand grenade in the room.
Ask yourself what a micro base is and how the company would like to handle staffing and reserves in such a base?
