CDO = Continuous Duty Overnight, because you're never really on rest.

Example: Report at 2230, Depart 2330, arrive Podunkville at 0100. Sit on Arse for 5 hours ( I guess at a Hotel) Pickup at 0600, Depart Podunkville at 0700, Arrive at domicile at 0830.

Reporting at 2230 your duty day for two legs is 11 hours so that is how you get around not having a "legal" rest period - in this case only 5 hours.

Other names for split duty periods are: illegals, high speeds, CDOs ( don't ask me I am not sure - possibly Collateral Duty Overnight?)

As a "Major" airline Pilot group we should not even consider these. Yes, I know that "some" Pilots want them but we need to be protected from "ourselves" and basically do what is best for the "whole" Pilot group - you know the "Spock" thing from one of the Star Trek movies.

Hell, I would love a satellite base in SAN but if its "bad" for the Pilot group as a whole I understand why we shouldn't do it.

Scoop :)

Note - My times are 100% made up to provide an example - I do not know if they are within the parameters of the SDPs that we considered.

Semantics then. I'm familiar. We called them stand up duty periods.

Holy crap. It looks like RG III is out for the year -- again.

Seems like the second most important position on a NFL team nowadays is backup quarterback.
