Once it became a known yellow fever/malaria destination, well, then Screw Sceds couldn't assign it to a reserve, it had to be white or green slipped.
That must have been something special for just the 777. They can be assigned to reserves just like any other trip on the 767 and 330. |

Chief Pilot about this very topic a few years ago. He asked me if I had my Malarone prescription. I said, "Nope, I'm never going there, so I don't need it." He said, "Well, what if they cancel your Dubai trip and assign you a Lagos trip for recovery?" I said, "That's what sick leave is for, I'll just sick out of it BEFORE I go and get Malaria, so I'll save Delta a bundle in both Malarone prescriptions and malaria treatment costs." No argument from him. BTW, he'd never been there either and had no desire to go, and this was BEFORE the Ebola thing! |
I am absolutely disgusted that Tim would go after individual pilots. The latest DPA email just floored me. Tim, you have single handedly killed the DPA drive. You would've had a lot more credibility if you just turned them over to pro standards. Pathetic.

You're not going to have any contractual protection. It's recommended to start Malerone 2 days prior however the CDC states that if you start it 8 hours before entering a malaria zone you should have full coverage. |
